05:30 AM

Sunrise at Angkor Wat temple

It will be your amazing experience of getting up so early and walking in the dark to see the stunning sunrise at Angkor Wat built by King Suryavarman II back in the 12th century, this place is massive, and seeing the silhouette of those five lotus towers slowly appear on the water is pure magic. Once the sun is up, we beat the biggest crowds by heading straight inside the main complex. Walking through the outer galleries feels like stepping back in time; the walls are covered in hundreds of meters of mind-blowing bas-reliefs showing scenes like the Churning of the Ocean of Milk and ancient battles. As we wander deeper, you will spot thousands of uniquely carved Devatas (sacred female spirits) smiling from the pillars, each with different hairstyles and jewelry. We will explore the quiet libraries, walk through stone courtyards where monks still pray, and look closely at the ancient Sanskrit inscriptions carved into the doorways. The grand finale is making our way up to the Bakan Sanctuary, the highest central tower. The stairs are steep, but standing at the top gives you an incredible view over the surrounding jungle and the vast layout of the complex. It is the perfect mix of peaceful early-morning vibes, crazy-impressive ancient engineering, and deep spiritual history that shows you exactly why this stone masterpiece has captivated travelers for centuries.

09:00 AM

Breakfast stop

You will stop at a local restaurant near by the temple for enjoying your breakfast and coffee.

09:30 AM

Tomb Raider temple of Ta Prohm

Next up on our route is Ta Prohm, and honestly, it is usually everyone’s absolute favorite stop on the Small Circuit. Built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century as a Buddhist monastery dedicated to his mother, this place was left pretty much how French explorers found it back. Instead of clearing out the jungle, archeologists wisely decided to let nature and stone keep their wild embrace, which gives the whole complex an incredibly raw, mysterious atmosphere. You will walk down a shaded dirt path before the crumbling sandstone walls suddenly appear through the trees. The real showstoppers here are the massive silk-cotton and strangler fig trees. Their giant, silvery roots look like molten rock flowing over the roofs, splitting massive stones apart and wrapping tightly around ancient doorways. We will make our way directly to the famous "Tomb Raider tree" where Angelina Jolie filmed, where a colossal root system literally swallows an entire gallery. But beyond the big movie spots, the real magic is wandering into the narrower, moss-covered corridors. You will find hidden carvings of devatas peeking out from behind thick vines, collapsed courtyards piled high with carved blocks, and the unique "echo chamber" where clapping against your chest creates a strange, hollow boom. It feels less like a standard museum visit and more like you stumbled upon a lost world hidden deep in the Cambodian forest. Deep in the jungle here!

11:30 AM

Angkor Thom & Bayon temple

After leaving Ta Prohm, you will head straight toward the grand walled city of Angkor Thom via the East Gate, historically known as the Jaya Gate. Driving up to this massive stone entrance is an unforgettable experience. The bridge leading across the wide moat is lined on both sides by 108 giant stone statues: gods on the left and demons on the right, all locked in a timeless tug-of-war pulling a giant cosmic serpent. Passing under the gate's tower, you will look up to see four massive stone faces staring out toward the cardinal directions, a dramatic preview of what is waiting for us at the very center of the city. Just a short drive inside brings us to Bayon temple, King Jayavarman VII’s architectural masterpiece. From a distance, it looks like a chaotic, jagged pile of dark rock, but as we walk up, the structure shifts into something mesmerizing. Bayon is famous for its 54 towers adorned with well over 200 massive, serene stone faces, all wearing a mysterious, subtle smile. Before heading up, we will stroll through the outer galleries to check out the incredible bas-reliefs carved into the walls. Unlike the grand myths of Angkor Wat, these carvings show everyday 12th-century Cambodian life: markets, cockfights, fishermen on the Tonle Sap, and intense battles with the rival Chams. It is raw, fascinating, and uniquely human. Special stop!

Wonderful tour around Siem Reap

Saroun was an excellent guide for our 2 days touring Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples. He accommodated all of our requests and balanced the needs of our diverse group. The van was comfortable, with excellent AC. After each temple, we’d return to cold water and fresh cold face-cloths. Saroun spoke excellent English and animated the history, religion, politics and architecture of the sites. Each temple came alive with his guidance. We absolutely loved our time in Cambodia. Plus he takes excellent photos with his advanced phone and knows where to get the best shots! I highly recommend you engage his services for the best time.

Awesome tour

This was a most edifying & enjoyable tour with a guide who is kind, attentive & knowledgeable. A trip to Koh Ker, Banteay Srei & the Bayon. It was in a comfortable vehicle. Both driver & guide were flexible in adjusting schedule on the fly. Highly recommended. For English speakers, guide has an excellent command of the language & speaks quite clearly.

I would like to express my gratitude to your review on my touring job in Angkor World Heritage Site. Wish you all the best!

Brilliant!

Saroun is a lovely gentleman and fantastic guide. He delivers the tour in an engaging way by using conversation as the way to communicate. Saroun has extensive knowledge of the Angkor Wat national park and Cambodia. He details the importance of Cambodia's historical events. The driver that works with Saroun is very courteous and kept the vehicle in immaculate condition considering we had a lot of rain on our tour, not to mention the cold towels and water to refresh you. If you are looking for any tour in Cambodia that Saroun offers, he is your guide! You don't need to look anywhere else, just book with Saroun!
