Explore Angkor's outer temples on this full-day private tour, covering the Grand Circuit and Banteay Srei — sites most first-day visitors miss. The day starts with the 45–60 minute countryside drive to Banteay Srei, a 10th-century pink sandstone temple known for the finest stone carving in the park, often called the "Citadel of Women." From there, the route loops back through the Grand Circuit's Buddhist and Hindu temples: Banteay Samre, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, and Pre Rup.

09:00 AM

Banteay Srei (Woman) Temple

A small 10th-century temple built from pink sandstone, 35 km northeast of Siem Reap. Known for the deepest, most intricate relief carving in the Angkor region — mythological scenes of Hindu gods carved at miniature scale. Unlike the sandstone at Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei's stone allowed carvers far finer detail.

10:00 AM

Banteay Samre

A well-preserved 12th-century Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat architectural style, enclosed by a double laterite wall. Quiet, with far fewer visitors than the main park temples.

11:00 AM

Lunch Break (Optional)

Stop at a local restaurant recommended by your guide (own account).

12:00 PM

Preah Khan

A sprawling 12th-century temple built by King Jayavarman VII, dedicated to his father. Left largely unrestored, with tree roots growing through corridors and courtyards — similar in atmosphere to Ta Prohm, with far fewer visitors.

12:20 PM

Neak Pean

A small Buddhist temple built on a circular artificial island at the center of a reservoir (baray), representing a mythical Himalayan lake. Reached via a short walkway.

12:40 AM

Ta Som

A small 12th-century temple dedicated to Jayavarman VII's father, notable for a tree-engulfed gate at its eastern entrance.

01:00 AM

East Mebon

A 10th-century temple-mountain built on what was once an artificial island in the now-dry East Baray reservoir. Stone elephant sculptures guard its corners.

01:30 AM

Pre Rup

A 10th-century state temple built of brick, laterite, and sandstone. Its stepped pyramid can be climbed for wide views over the surrounding countryside — a popular sunset viewpoint on later-starting tours.

About Tour Guide Oun L.

Jomreab Sue (Hello), lady and gentleman, my name is Oun. I'm an Official Guide and Photographer. I grew up in a small remote village about 13 km away from the Siem Reap center. I have been a guide and photographer since 2017 and have had many years of experience working in the tourism industry.

Previously, I was a full-time teacher. I taught younger kids and younger adult learners. Well, I am so passionate about teaching and playing with kids. I always think whenever I get older I will be back to teach again and share my experience with the young generations.

My Educational background, I graduated high school in 2013 and continued my bachelor's degree at the University of Southeast Asia in 2014. I graduated from my university in 2018 with a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Langauge). In the meantime, I have completed the Tourist Guide Training Course from the Ministry of Tourism Cambodia.

In the present day, I still work in the Tourism Industry as English Speaking Tour Guide and Photographer.

My routine hobby, I like fishing, cooking, photography, guiding history, and traveling.

Last, my biggest passion is sharing my beautiful Cambodian culture and history with people worldwide.

Can't wait to share with you my Siem Reap!! Looking forward to seeing you in Siem Reap!

Reviews

Fabulous day with multi-talented guide!

My partner and I had a beautiful day with our warm and knowledgeable guide/photographer, Oun. His knowledge of the history of the construction of the temples, relevant Hindu and Buddhist mythology and ancient Khmer culture is rich and fascinating. He captured many wonderful photos throughout the day, which flowed easily through our enjoyment of the temple grounds. Initially I wasn't sure about combining a history tour with photography in one trip, but Oun is a skilled professional in both regards and wove the two together seamlessly. He gave clear and easy to follow posing guidance, making this a perfect option even for someone who is shy or new to modelling. The quality of these two tours in one (photography and historical) plus dozens of beautiful professionally edited photographs is outstanding for this price. We are both extremely happy with this experience and highly recommend spending a day at the temples with Oun!
