We believe that the secondary roads are much more fun and show the real country side, this is why we choose to take it easy and stop on the different churches along the coastal road which are full of histories and traditions as well as the mystical stories including Quemchi, Aucar, Tenaun, Dalcahue and of course the emblematic church of Castro.

Day 4. Chiloé Island
This morning we can have different options for you to choose between.
Visit the northern side of the Island and coastal beach of Puñihuil where a considerable amount of penguins arrive in late November, we would get a boat and approach where the penguins arrive to nest and hatch the babies. Communities of Chilean fishermen, introduced a law that encouraged groups of fishermen to join together and form a local organization. The management of marine areas was entrusted to these groups, with a trust agreement. One of these groups is the Viento Fuerte de Puñihuil union, fishing in the small bay of Puñihuil, in the northern coast of the Chiloé Island. To improve and protect the area, all the local fisherman work together on repopulation initiatives or transferring predators, like starfish. If necessary, they introduce the species that the loco feeds on, like mussels, which they call choritos, and they organize a system of collective supervision with the members to avoid illegal fishing within the area they oversee. We will leave Puñihuil to visit Ancud, and Fuerte de San Antonio the last Spanish bastion before heading back to Pto Varas we shall visit the fish and food market. Arrive at hotel at 6-7pm aprox. Ttransfer to Airport in Puerto Montt.
