Let’s discover the mysterious charm of Prague’s Old Town. In Prague, real history can sometimes be even stranger than ancient legends. On this tour, we will explore the city’s ghostly legends, but also discover the real history behind them. The old streets and buildings will tell us stories about the Templars, Hussites, underground passages, hidden alchemy labs, mysterious house signs, the Astronomical Clock, and the world-famous Golem. The tour takes place after sunset for a better atmosphere.

Meeting Point

Charvátova, 110 00 Nové Město

- Franz Kafka's rotating head sculpture - Outside the Quadrio shopping center

Bethlehem Chapel

Bethlem Chapel, established in 1391 for masses in the Czech language, served as a pulpit for Mr. Jan Hus. Yes, almost 100 years before Martin Luther, masses in the Czech Lands were held in the local language, not in Latin. Jan Hus (John Goose) criticized the Catholic Church, and his proto-Protestant ideas attracted many followers - the Hussites.

St. Gile church

This is the Church of St. Giles, originally a Romanesque church, later rebuilt in Gothic style. In the 17th century, the Dominicans moved here. The Dominicans were one of the strictest orders of the Catholic Church. In this church, the ghost of a Dominican monk is said to appear, wearing a bloodstained coat.

Here is also a beer break option (cca 20 mins) beer or drinks are not included. The stop is optional.

The Pub of Executioner

This place is known as the favourite pub of Jan Mydlář, the chief executioner of the Czech Kingdom in the early 17th century. He executed 27 leaders of the Anti-Habsburg revolt. Jan Mydlář visited this tavern often, for him, this place was special.

Astronomical clock

This famous UNESCO landmark is one of Prague’s most famous sights. We will see the performance after dark, and I will tell you more stories about its creators and the Dancing Death figurine.

Old Town square

The main square has many legends. In the past, it was a huge market. Today, we can see the remains of the city hall and the place where executions took place. The dominant landmark is the Church of Our Lady before Týn.

The Týn

The Týn was the old customs and the entrance is behind the Church of Our Lady before Týn. In the Middle Ages, it looked a bit different — more like a small fortress.

The Alchemy Lab

We will see the oldest house in Prague from the outside. In the 16th century, Rudolf II established an alchemical laboratory here. Legendary alchemists such as Rabbi Loew and Edward Kelley are said to have worked in this laboratory.

The Old-New Synagogue

The Old-New Synagogue is the oldest still-functioning synagogue in Europe, built in the mid-13th century. It has been the spiritual center of Prague’s Jewish community for centuries. According to legend, in the loft of this synagogue are the remains of the Golem.
