Meeting Point
Plaza Arturo Bautista Pellerano Castro (Parque Rosado)
- Meet me at Parque Rosado, in the Colonial Zone. We’ll start here with a quick introduction to the route and how everyday Dominican food connects with the neighborhoods we’ll explore.
Local Dominican Meal
Enjoy a typical Dominican meal in a simple local spot. You’ll see how everyday meals are served, how different foods are combined, and how locals usually order.
Traditional Sweets Shop
Visit a shop that brings together sweets and products from different parts of the Dominican Republic. Taste different flavors while learning about local ingredients, juices, regional specialties and the foods Dominicans often take home or give as gifts.
Chinatown Food Stop
Walk through Santo Domingo’s Chinatown and stop for a small bite. You’ll learn how the Chinese community became part of the city and how its food businesses influenced everyday local eating.
Mercado Modelo Area
Explore Mercado Modelo and the surrounding streets, where you’ll see fruits, vegetables, root crops, herbs, spices, and condiments used in Dominican cooking. Depending on availability, you can also taste seasonal fruit.
Calle El Conde
Finish along Calle El Conde, comparing older places where Dominicans used to eat with the newer restaurants that appeared as the Colonial Zone became more tourist-oriented. I’ll also share practical recommendations for places you can try on your own.
Ending Point
Plaza Arturo Bautista Pellerano Castro (Parque Rosado)

The food included is designed to be enough for one person with a normal appetite. It is not a buffet or unlimited food experience.

Vegetarian options can be arranged with advance notice.
Bring sun protection and some cash or a card if you would like to purchase extra food, drinks, or souvenirs.

On Sundays, the main meal stop is closed, so we will visit a different local restaurant offering a similar Dominican meal. The rest of the route remains the same. Chinatown also hosts a Sunday street food market, so we can spend more time there and explore additional food stalls if you wish.

About Tour Guide Ezequiel S.
Hello! My name is Ezequiel, and I’m a local guide in wonderful Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic—the city where I was born and have lived for more than three decades.
I show visitors the city I have watched grow: its neighborhoods, its people, and the way tourism has gradually changed different parts of Santo Domingo. My tours go beyond the usual tourist bubble, combining well-known places with areas where everyday Dominican life still takes center stage.
I enjoy sharing the city’s history, culture, food, and local reality through friendly conversation and honest explanations. My tours are personal, relaxed, and flexible, so we can explore at your own pace and focus on what interests you most.
My goal is for you to enjoy Santo Domingo not only as a visitor, but with the perspective of someone who calls it home.
