Discover Santo Domingo with a local guide based in the city. This tour is designed to help you understand the capital in a calm, personal, and easy-to-follow way, with comfortable transportation, local context, time for photos, and practical recommendations. Instead of just moving from stop to stop, the goal is to help you enjoy the city, feel oriented, and see why Santo Domingo is worth exploring.

Itinerary

This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!

09:00 AM

Meeting Point

Pickup at your accommodation in Santo Domingo

- I will pick you up directly at your hotel, Airbnb, or accommodation within Santo Domingo. After booking, please send me the exact address so I can confirm the pickup time and details. If your accommodation is outside Santo Domingo, please contact me before booking to confirm if pickup is possible.

09:30 AM

Los Tres Ojos National Park

A natural surprise inside the city: limestone caves, blue lagoons, rock formations, tropical vegetation, and small local fauna. This is usually one of the most memorable moments of the tour because it feels hidden inside the capital.

10:30 AM

Columbus Lighthouse

A large monument-museum built around the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s arrival in the Americas. Inside, the cultural rooms and historical displays feel almost frozen in time, showing a very particular side of Santo Domingo’s recent history.

11:00 AM

Banreservas Cultural Center

A calmer cultural stop in the Colonial City, usually connected to Dominican art, history, or temporary exhibitions. It adds a more local and less rushed museum experience to the route.

11:20 AM

Taíno Cultural Center Casa del Cordón

This stop focuses on Indigenous heritage and the early history of the island. Casa del Cordón also adds architectural value, since it is one of the important historic buildings in Santo Domingo.

Ending Point

Drop-off at your accommodation in Santo Domingo, unless another nearby ending point is agreed during the tour.

Tour Important Information

* Los Tres Ojos is a cave park and requires physical effort. The visit includes going down and up more than 300 steps, walking through humid areas, and moving on natural paths.

* This tour can be done at a calm pace, but Los Tres Ojos is not recommended for guests who cannot use stairs or who have serious knee, hip, back, or mobility problems.

* Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended. Avoid slippery sandals or high heels.

* Santo Domingo can be hot and humid, so light clothing, sunscreen, and water are recommended.

* The main route is planned to give you a balanced view of Santo Domingo, but some stops can be adjusted depending on your interests, pace, traffic, weather, and opening hours.

* If you are interested in museums, local culture, photography, food, the Colonial Zone, or a slower visit, please let me know. I will be happy to suggest the best route for you.

* This tour is personally guided by me, with a calm and friendly approach. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, oriented, and well accompanied while exploring the city.

On Mondays, many museums and cultural centers in Santo Domingo may be closed. The tour can still operate, since Los Tres Ojos and Columbus Lighthouse are usually available, but some cultural stops may be replaced with other suitable places depending on opening hours, traffic, and the pace of the visit.

About Tour Guide Ezequiel S.

Hello! My name is Ezequiel, and I’m a local guide in wonderful Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic—the city where I was born and have lived for more than three decades.

I show visitors the city I have watched grow: its neighborhoods, its people, and the way tourism has gradually changed different parts of Santo Domingo. My tours go beyond the usual tourist bubble, combining well-known places with areas where everyday Dominican life still takes center stage.

I enjoy sharing the city’s history, culture, food, and local reality through friendly conversation and honest explanations. My tours are personal, relaxed, and flexible, so we can explore at your own pace and focus on what interests you most.

My goal is for you to enjoy Santo Domingo not only as a visitor, but with the perspective of someone who calls it home.
