Current fortress walls are from different time periods, starting from 4th century, however the most parts are from16th-17th century.

Mother of Kartli statue was created by Elguja Amashukeli. It was erected in 1958, the year Tbilisi celebrated its 1500th anniversary. The statue represents Georgian spirit and history. It overlooks city of Tbilisi like mother looking over her children.
