One of my visitors from abroad said to me, " If you want to know the culture of the country, tasting and learning about the food is the best way".
Nishiki food market is called the kitchen of Kyoto's citizens. Walking through the market with a guide, having the food explained and trying samples will be much more interesting than visiting the market alone!
In addition, this tour takes you to a traditional tea shop where you can enjoy learning how to make Japanese tea usually drunk at home, as well as to a traditional Kyoto house which used to be a sake brewery.
If you are more interested in a traditional tea ceremony than enjoying tea at a tea shop, you can change the itinerary from the tea shop to a tea ceremony, though an additional charge is required.
Let's enjoy a 4 hour food culture encounter!!
In front of Daimaru department store on Shijo street
Karasuma Oike ( corner )
Guide fee
entrance fee for Horino memorial museum
Hoji or Kuki sencha tea ( basic menu )
If you order another menu at Kaboku, additional charge will be required
In case of changing the course from Kaboku to tea ceremony experience, additional charge will be required.
In case of the day when Kaboku or Horino memorial museum are closed, we exchange the itinerary a little. Pleas ask in advance.

“A Pleasant Guide who has a good sense of humour”
Tomoko has a good command of the English Language and Japanese history. She was accomodating towards our request for the tour and choice of lunch. Due to the great distance between each tourist site in Kyoto, we found that we spent alot of time travelling on the bus/train. Although that is an experience in itself , it took up the bulk of the time. Tomoko took care to assist us at the ticket booths and made sure we were comfortable on the pubic transport. It was easy to talk to her. On hindsight, we should have requested for the tours to be much earlier so that we could hear her explanations without the noise of the crowd drowning her voice and also to take better photos. Thank you Tomoko.

(32 reviews)Ms Yook, Thank you for your message. I hope you enjoyed the tour. As for the time for moving one place to the other, Kyoto is not a small city and The famous places are dotted apart. So to cover all the places, we need some time. Or we need to concentrate on one part of the city to visit to cut such moving time. I should have explained about the time before the tour.
