Cirkewwa, Malta
On arrival in Cirkewwa in Malta board the Gozo Channel Ferry with your guide for a short twenty-minute ferry crossing to Mgarr in Gozo. Pass by the island of Comino, the islet of Cominotto and the Blue Lagoon in Comino known for its crystal clear turquoise blue water featured in many films including the mini-series Helen of Troy and films Swept Away featuring Madonna and The Count of Monte Cristo.
Mgarr, Gozo
Arrive in Mgarr in Gozo with your guide after a short twenty-minute Gozo Channel Ferry crossing from Cirkewwa in Malta. A chauffeur-driven air-conditioned vehicle will be waiting for you to tour the island of Gozo.
Ggantija Temples, Gozo
The Megalithic temples of Ggantija are the oldest free-standing monuments in the world, pre-dating the Pyramids of Egypt.
The Citadel in Victoria, Gozo
The Citadel or Ċittadella is a medieval fortified area of Gozo's capital Victoria or Rabat. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age given its size and strategic position on a hill dominating the surrounding countryside and having views of large parts of the coastline. The Citadel has been included on Malta’s tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1998. You may wish to visit the Gozo Cathedral most famous for a remarkable trompe-l’œil by the Sicilian artist Antonio Manuele on its ceiling which depicts an optical illusion of the interior of a dome that was never built.
Dwejra Inland Sea and Fungus Rock, Gozo
The Inland Sea in Dwejra is a scenic lagoon of seawater beneath the high cliffs of Dwejra, separated from the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea by a long limestone natural arched tunnel rock formation. You may wish to take a short boat tour from the Inland Sea passing through the tunnel and out into the Mediterranean Sea beneath high cliffs. Dwejra is also the site of Fungus Rock islet, the Blue Hole diving site and the remains of the Azure Window which prior to its collapse in 2017 was a major tourist attraction appearing in many films and productions including the Game of Thrones series.
Xlendi Bay, Gozo
Xlendi Bay is a fjord-like seaside village surrounded by steep cliffs dotted with caves and an inland valley. The 3 km stretch of cliffed coastline from Xlendi Bay westwards is an Important Bird Area, supporting 350–500 breeding pairs of Cory's shearwaters and 30–50 pairs of vulnerable yelkouan shearwaters. Alternatively you may wish to visit the The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu or the Xwejni Saltpans where sea-water is pumped through large feeding pools to concentrate the salt-water and then into a shallower chequerboard pattern of shimmering mirrored reflective pools cut into the sea shore, where the water evaporates in the sun and wind to leave harvested sea-salt which is available for sale - this is a process and site dating back to the Phoenician and Roman times.
Mgarr, Gozo
Return to Mgarr Gozo in a chauffeur-driven air-conditioned vehicle and board the Gozo Channel Ferry with your guide for a short twenty-minute ferry crossing to return to Cirkewwa in Malta, again passing the island of Comino, the islet of Cominotto and the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
