I will take you beyond the usual sights, showcasing iconic buildings and hidden courtyards. As we wander through the labyrinth of narrow streets, I will share stories spanning from the days of Rembrandt to the present.
Bistro Berlage (or your hotel)
- We will meet left to the entrance of the bistro. There is a sign saying "Sherlocked" where I will be waiting.
As we will meet at the square of the stock markets I will explain the history of the stock market.

The Dam Square has forever been the heart of Amsterdam. Here the city has her origins. Let´s delve into this and also learn about the Royal Palace that once used to be the splendid town hall of Amsterdam when the city was dominating global trade in 1650!
Learn about Amsterdam´s first major city extension: The famous canal belt. We will learn about the architecture from around that time (1600s) and understand why the city raised to become the richest and biggest city in the world!
While walking along the main canals we will also visit an area called the "9 Little Streets" - with unique boutiques and stores that has become a popular shopping area among locals.
The Jordaan district stands out as a quintessential example of the city’s unique charm. Once a working-class area, the Jordaan has evolved into one of Amsterdam’s most desirable quarters, known for its narrow streets, lively atmosphere, and a mix of historical and modern elements.
We will visit two historic courtyards that you would not encounter easily on your own. With a long lasting history they were once one of the first social housing projects in the world!
We will pass by the famous Anne Frank House - an important site in the city for Jewish history.
The most beautiful church in Amsterdam that the rich merchants of the city built themselves in the early 1600s. The famous painter Rembrandt was buried here.
