My name is Laura and I am a passionate official tour guide and I try to show visitors the essence of my place, the unique and memorable places. I've been working full time as a tour guide for over 8 years and I hope I can continue for many more. I am also a sworn translator and interpreter by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and I have been travelling around the world to meet new people, to learn about new cultures and to be sure I can speak English in a bilingual way. Toledo holds a special place in my heart, it is my hometown. This is the place that made me who I am today and made me feel what I feel today when I go to work, when I walk around its narrow streets (where I used to play), around the Jewish quarter (where my grandma used to live and the place she had to be hidden in the Civil War), around the convent area (that quiet and fascinating area that surprises me every single day), when I cross the two stunning bridges we have and when I realize that to go to work is a pleasure. There is an indescribable charm about this town. That is why I am a proud official local guide of the beautiful City of the Three Cultures. This is the reason why I love to show visitors the important legacy we have in form of churches, synagogues and mosques. Let me show you the charm of Toledo. But not only the city of Madrid; there are a number of other cities, within a distance of 60-70 minutes by car, like Toledo, Segovia, El Escorial, Ávila, … that fully complement the modern Madrid with the history of Spain in more than two thousand years: romans, muslins, jews and christians. I’m a proud madrileña with Swiss Heritage from my father. He came to Madrid in the sixties and fell in love with it. I have also lived in other European countries like Switzerland, Germany and France. Although I have travelled a lot, my favourite city has always been Madrid and its secret squares, sunny terraces, centenary shops, taverns and great city life. Come with me and discover the history and legends of Madrid, its Muslim origins, the charming streets and neighbourhoods, three of the best art museums in the world, the unique shops, the best tapas and especially the Spanish way of life. We can also have a look over the roofs of Madrid from special viewpoints and taste the authentic gastronomy and wines in town. In the cities around Madrid you will see a different place. Much smaller, more quiet and with an amazing and still touchable history. Cities that ruled the region and Spain thousand years ago, when Madrid did not even exist. Hi, I am Ahtasham, a licensed tour guide from Madrid. I speak English, Spanish and Hindi perfectly and have been working in the tourism industry for more than 15 years. Before coming to Spain I worked as a tour guide in India for English and Spanish speaking tourists. Later my love for Spanish language and culture brought me to Spain for further studies.
