I sold my business 15 years ago and my wife and I decided to relocate to Charleston, SC. We had visited several times and were immediately struck with the beauty and charm of the wonderful city. But just as important we were so impressed with the friendliness of the people here. After serving on several community and charity boards I decided to become a licensed city guide and passed the rather rigorous exam. I then designed my tours to give people a comprehensive knowledge of the history of the city as well as what it’s like living here today. My walking tour is of the Charlestonwne neighborhood, located at the very southern tip of the peninsula. It includes 8 of the 10 largest homes on Charleston, the original walled city, White Point Gardens, rainbow row, the high battery and several wonderful old churches and museum homes. I love meeting new people and telling them the story of this great city and I’m the preferred guide for many of Charleston’s finest hotels. I am a tour guide and freelancer with a major in history from Zadar, Croatia. I am born in Zadar but moved to Korčula and stayed there from age 3-14. Then I moved to Split during high school. By the end of High school, I started learning Web Design in HTML. CSS and Java Script and made my first web page I returned to Zadar when I enrolled at University. I have a major in history. During study, I worked various jobs and learn graphic design which I did as a freelancer and also started learning 3d modeling. My thesis was Migration from Dalmatia in 1860. until 1918. I am interested mostly in social history, modern history, and migrations. I am learning Spanish and German in my free time because interest in exploring Latin America and Croatian communities in that area which was part of the research in my thesis. I worked in high school as a history teacher. I have some experience of working with people from many countries as I am renting rooms as a part of my house. I am also hosting people with Couchsurfing and Warmshowers. Currently, I am the most popular host on both platforms in Zadar. I have a certificate to work as a tour guide in Zadar county and a tour operator in the whole of Croatia from 2020. As a freelancer, I mostly worked with web and graphic design and recently 3d modeling. From September 2021 I have a certificate as Unity Programmer and Level Designer in Game and App Development. Currently I have two games published on Android and two on PC. Also I am travelling outside Croatia almost every year since I was 19 mostly by attending music festivals. I really like music so we can talk about that as well. Currently, I am developing one educational board game for Android. My walking tour is mostly history and art history oriented but I intend to adjust my walking tour depending on the people who booked it so I don't always go the same route. In the United Kingdom, I graduated in Information Systems and returned to Porto to get a Master's degree in Management. During my degree in the United Kingdom, I made friends with students from various corners of the world: Italians, Germans, French, Senegalese, Thais, Malawians, Turks, Poles, Czechs, etc., also living in students accommodations in the university campus, where the kitchens were shared, one of the things that gave me greater pleasure, was to share our different gastronomies, besides, each one love to mention what can best be discovered in each country and in their native cities, without forgetting soccer preferences! At the same time, I got a part-time job on the weekends at the Holiday Inn Hotel, to help with my expenses. There where I worked nights in the bar and restaurant. Here, once again, I shared and heard stories from the four corners of the world from my colleagues and guests. Then, on my return to Portugal and after taken a Master degree in Business Management at FEP (Faculty of Economics of Porto), I started working 9 hours a day in an accounting office making business and financial plans. Tired and seeing that this would not be a future for me, I decided to create my own business in the tourism sector and in an area that has always attracted me, the travel sector. That's how I decided to open a travel agency initially specializing in incoming tourism, more specifically on sightseeing tours and later in outgoing tourism. As I felt I needed more knowledge in the area, I enrolled in the course of certified tourism driver of the Escola de Turismo do Porto. This was an intensive 350-hour course of study in local guiding and domestic and international tours directing. I received my SNATTI (National Union for Tourist Guides) membership certificate on May December 20,2020, and it has been a blessing ever since. I have a Portuguese Class B Driver’s License and I also have a First Aid Certificate.
