Buildings in Singapore emerge and vanish in the blink of an eye, but these 76 buildings have been earmarked for the highest level of protection, due to their historical, cultural and architectural value.
Singapore may be a young nation with limited land, but as we embrace the future, we also must not forget our past.
Join me as we uncover this treasure chest of fascinating stories at Civic District, right in the heart of downtown Singapore.

Who says lightning never strikes the same place twice? It happened to Singapore’s largest cathedral, which is also one of Singapore's oldest national monuments!
National Gallery (former City Hall & Supreme Court)
Stately and colossal, this grand stairway was where Singapore's first President and first Prime Minister sworn into office.
Padang
As the only non-building in the list of National Monuments, this large field has witnessed many historical milestones, from the formal surrender of the Japanese in 1945, to Singapore's first National Day Parade in 1966.
The Arts House at the Old Parliament
Being the oldest surviving building in Singapore, it was built as a private residence, but eventually used for court trials and parliamentary debates.
