Singapore’s Chinatown is more than just a historic district — it is a living showcase of the city-state’s multicultural roots and the enduring legacy of its early immigrants. Founded in the early 19th century following the arrival of Chinese settlers, Chinatown began as a tightly packed enclave designated for the Chinese population under Sir Stamford Raffles’ town plan.
