Welcome to Kyoto. I'm KEI, a licensed national guide.
I have lived and worked in this beautiful city for over 25 years. Kyoto is a fantastic city in that it is surrounded by a historical, authentic, and lovely atmosphere.
My educational background is a Bachelor's degree in Commercial law and a Master's degree in Buddhism. During the Master's program, I lived and worked at a significant Zen temple in Kyoto.
I spent one year in the U.S. as an exchange student and went to California for our honeymoon in 2013.
Gion Festival, one of the three major festivals in Kyoto, is another of my passion. I do appreciate and enjoy the historical activity in summer.
I have guided many international tourists as a professional English tour guide for the past several years. My tours cover most of the popular destinations in Kyoto, but if you feel like some other options, please feel free to consult. I am happy to discuss and create a unique, customized tour with you.

“Amazing day in Kyoto with our outstanding guide Kei. ”
We spent an amazing day in beautiful Kyoto with our outstanding guide Kei. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and spoke excellent English. Kei was friendly and had great communication skills, in addition to being very thoughtful and considerate. Kei gave us a wonderful insight into Japanese History, culture and tradition. We visited Fushimi Inari Shrine, The Kinkakuji Temple, Nijo Castle and Arashiyama Bamboo Grove to name but a few. He also introduced us to various types of delicious Japanese food at the Kyoto Nishiki Market. Kei was regularly in contact via the Go With Guide website prior to our trip and helped me plan our itinerary well in advance. He accommodated all my requests with regards the sites we wanted to visit, and arranged a private vehicle to transport us around Kyoto. This enabled us to see the maximum number of sites in a limited time. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and packed day. Kei went the extra mile to drop us off at the correct platform at Kyoto Shinkansen for our train back to Kobe. Thank you Kei for a truly wonderful and memorable experience. We were extremely lucky and blessed to have had Kei as our guide in Kyoto and I can not recommend him highly enough!

We really enjoyed our tour with Kei around Kyoto! He was extremely knowledgeable, clear and personable. He made sure we saw all of the sights on our itinerary in a timely manner. We would highly recommend Kei's tour if you're looking to see some of the main sights in Kyoto. He even gave us a good restaurant recommendation for later that evening and a couple ideas for our second day in Kyoto. A great day/tour overall.

“Excellent Kyoto Walking Tour with Kei San ! ”
I booked 2 half-day AM tours with Kei San during my trip to Kyoto. We visited the Fushimi Inari & Golden Pavillion on the first day and the Arashiyama, Bamboo Forest, Jojakko-Ji & Tenryu temple the following day. Kei was very hospitable, warm & friendly. He was very accommodating and flexible as I was travelling with my elderly parents. The pace was just right with short breaks. His sharing and insights of the Japanese history, culture and beliefs made the entire walking tour very fun. Be sure to engage him when you are in town ! Take good care Kei San!
