Hello everyone! My name is Sayuki and I live in Tokyo, Japan.
I was born in Australia but grew up partly in Japan, living with a Japanese family and attending Japanese schools.
I completed a Ph.D. in social anthropology, and later debuted as the first white geisha in Japanese history in Asakusa in 2007. I currently work in the Fukagawa District of Tokyo which has recently revived. We have four geisha in my geisha house. I have now over 10 years of experience in being a geisha and I specialize in playing the Japanese flute.
I look forward to to have you learn more about the geisha world, just as much as I look forward to to learn something about yourself!
“Great Visit”
We had a great visit! Not only did we learn about the history and culture of geisha in Japan, but we got to experience current geisha school practices. My husband, kids (8yo & 11yo), and I had an amazing time, and we would definitely recommend this experience! Over a month after our visit to Japan from the US, my kids are still saying this was their most memorable experience.
“Incredible experience”
This was an amazing look inside the world of the geisha that is normally not available to people outside the profession. Getting to watch the ladies practice was very interesting, they were all very friendly and Sayuki was very helpful with explaining the different parts of the performances and the various styles of music the geisha perform. If you can find a day in your trip to see these talented performers I'd definitely recommend it.
“Incredible”
This was a highlight. Saluki and her geishas were fabulous, accommodating and very interesting. If your interested in this culture this is a must. They danced and sang and brought us to their home. It was a very authentic! Thank you to Sayuki!
