About Tour Guide Cathy W.
Cead Mile Failte - One Hundred Thousand Welcomes :)
Hi ladies and gents abroad and a warm welcome to my profile page here.
My name is Cathy and I am an Irish born and bred tour guide based in our beautiful capital city, Dublin.
I have been in the travel industry for over 20 years now and have worked as both a world wide travel manager for a large American company and also as a host and tour guide across Ireland and Europe for the past 8 years.
Having worked and travelled quite extensively in the past, I have had the great pleasure of meeting a number of different nationalities and experienced their cultures
It has been a great experience for me to work with so many different types of people from young children to the more mature folks enjoying their retirement years
Nowadays however, my greatest joy is to show off my own beautiful city and country to all of you from around the world
I am always delighted to meet and engage with new people and show them the very best of this lovely little country and help them make memories that will last a life time
I am a very friendly and fun but sincere person and I aim to give my guests interesting but fun tours during their time in the city or country
I am always open to reworking tours and tweaking or designing new tours to satisfy what any particular individual or group is interested in too and this has made me a popular guide here in Ireland
I am like most Irish people in that I do not over brag about myself but I can say with honesty that I am a genuinely professional guide who wants nothing but my groups to home happy and fully satisfied that they have been shown a good time and had lots of fun with me during their time in Ireland
If you want to get in touch with me to arrange or book a tour or discuss and preferences or things you would like to do here that are specific, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you promptly
Bye for now - my friends to come :)
Cathy

I've lived in Dublin city centre and its suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin along with its stories continues to surprise me, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started giving guided tours I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin City. These are the streets of countless struggles for freedom, laughter, pain, joy, as well as Bono, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Sinead O'Connor and Arthur Guinness. . . I get distracted with stories, so you might have to remind me from time to time!, and I like to make sure that anyone who books onto my tours have the best of times! As a long time musician, who's spent a lot of time with other Irish musicians, I've also got no shortage of insights into the heart of Irish music and folklore - it's a lovely world to occupy. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, remind me to tell you about this, you won't find the answer on Google! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while enjoying the city at the same time!

Located in the beautiful surrounds of Dublin, we celebrate the origin stories of Irish dishes, drinks and spirits through storytelling which allows us to make the experience even richer for our guests! By celebrating these stories, we not only highlight the history of Irish food but also give visitors a deeper appreciation of the tradition and craftsmanship behind each dish and drink. It’s like connecting the past with the present, especially as you explore Ireland’s emerging food scene. Did you know that Ireland is undergoing a food revolution and a whiskey renaissance? The focus on emerging food trends is also exciting because it shows how Ireland is evolving while still staying true to its culinary roots. It’s great to see how modern Irish chefs and distillers are shaping the future of Irish cuisine and drink, all while staying connected to the country’s cultural heritage. Taste Ireland - it’s about connecting with the heart of Irish food and drink in a way that goes beyond just tasting. By diving into the produce and meeting the locals, you're gaining a deeper understanding of not just what’s on your plate or in your glass, but the stories, traditions, and people behind it all. And of course, "having the craic" is an essential part of any Irish experience! The combination of great food, good company, lively conversation and storytelling is what makes the whole experience so memorable. It's all about immersion—not just in the food, but in the culture, the fun, the spirit and the heart of the place.
