The central market
Tunis Central Market (Marche Central de Tunis) is a lively and bustling marketplace situated in the heart of Tunis, erected in 1891, and it comprised four buildings that combine Art Deco and Arab architectural styles.
The Central Market boasts a rich history dating back to the 19th century and has become a vital cultural and economic hub for the region. Tourists and locals alike are drawn to the vibrant displays of fresh produce, spices, textiles, and handicrafts that fill the market. Additionally, the fish market is a must-see for anyone visiting.
Bab Bhar
The main gate of the medina . Bab Bhar the arabic name that means the gate of the sea ; there is a myth that says the sea was very close to that gate , which is not logic , the Bab is a gate through the walls that protected the medina.Bab bhar was named so because it opens on the northern suburbs of the golf of Tunis .
The Sainte-Croix Church of Tunis
Roman Catholic church that was built in 1837 before the french colonisation Given to the Tunisian government in 1964, it is now a cultural centre . We could fall on a painting gallery , a music events .
Al zaytouna mosque
Located in the heart of Tunis' medina, this important mosque was founded in 734 and built on a site once occupied by a church. It was totally rebuilt in the 9th century and restored many times over the centuries, and its huge prayer hall incorporates more than 200 columns scrounged from Roman Carthage. Its Almohades-style minaret in the northwest corner is a medina landmark. Non Muslims could get into the courtyard from a back door from 14:30 to 17:00 -ladies should carry a scarf and gentelmen something that cover tge knees , otherwise it can be viewed from the terrace of the Panorama Medina Cafe.
Medressa Souleymeniya
A school of Coran and islamic sciences , although built in 1750s,the monument is still shining with a huge patio surrounded by classrooms and students rooms and an amazingly decorated prayer room

I accumulated a very good knowledge of Mediterranean history and culture, but above all exceptional communication skills and a pleasure to share my knowledge and my passion for history.
My areas of expertise include cultural history, art, architecture, archaeology, culinary arts and photography. I speak English, French, Italian and Arabic.
