Meeting Point
Statue of William Wallace
- Meet me at the statue of William Wallace, a prominent landmark located near the entrance to Union Terrace Gardens in the city centre. This impressive bronze monument is easy to recognize and sits in a busy, accessible area surrounded by key streets and green spaces. It’s a convenient and well-known meeting point, making it simple to find and a perfect place to begin our walking tour of Aberdeen.
Tripple Kirk
The Triple Kirks is a striking and unusual historic site in Aberdeen, known for its tall Gothic-style spire that still dominates the skyline. Built in the 19th century, it originally housed three separate congregations within one complex—hence the name.
Ma Cameron’s Pub
Ma Cameron’s is one of the oldest pubs in Aberdeen and a true local favourite, full of character and history.
St Nicholas Kirk
St Nicholas Kirk is one of Aberdeen’s most important and historic landmarks, often referred to as “The Mither Kirk” (meaning mother church) of the city.
“Wizard of the North"
In the churchyard of St Nicholas Kirk, you’ll find the grave of John Henry Anderson, famously known as the “Wizard of the North.”

St Machar’s Cathedral
St Machar’s Cathedral is a historic and iconic church located in Old Aberdeen, near King’s College. Dating back to the 12th century, it features stunning Gothic architecture, intricate stonework, and beautiful stained glass windows.
Ending Point
The final stop on our walking tour is a visit to the historic churchyard at St Machar’s Cathedral.

*Dress appropriately for the weather, as much of the tour is outdoors.
*The route between Castlegate and King’s College will be covered by public bus (about 6 stops).
*Please have small change ready for the bus fare, approximately £7 for a round trip.
