Shamakha city

Shamakha city is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic places.
The city maintained economic and cultural relationships with countries asIndia and China in the 12th century.
In 1476 Venetian diplomat Giosafat Barbara was describing the city: "This is a good city, it has approximately four to five thousand houses, produces silk, cotton as well as other things according to it's local tradition."

Diri Baba ( Alive Grand) Mausoleum - place of Power, built in 1402 on the order of Shirvanshah Ibrahim I.
Two-stored building holds important place within Azerbaijan architecture due to its uniqueness of construction assembly andcomposition.
The Mausoleum can be categorized as a group of domed tombs with square-shaped wall in the domed hall. Medieval travelers such as Adam Olearius, Evliya Chelebi, Cornelis de Bruyn mentioned that this place was once the home to a highly respected Sufii master who lived at the end of the 14th century. The mausoleum gained widespread fame to the mysterious stories about him that circulated after the Sufi Master's death.
The philosophy of this movements, which are a part of the history of Azerbaijani philosophy, has been developing since ancient times when original Azerbaijani teachings such as Hurufism, Nuk and their philosophy were formed on the basis of the rich tradition of the philosophy of the unorthodox movements in Shirvan (prev. name of Azerbaijan).
Kalakhana Tombs and small village
The incredible monumental monuments of the XVII century - the tombs in the small village of Kalakhana near Shamakhi city. The number of these tombs are 8, located in an area of about 250×150 m.
Kalakhana tombs are octagonal Tombs, it is typical for Azerbaijan architectural culture. The tomb is an octagonal prism, the cover in the form of octagonal pyramid, covered with carved white stone. The individual features as the door of each tomb in different shapes, boards are placed above of the doors. The inscription on one of the tombs shows that the building was built in 1663 under the Master of Sarkar Abdul.
The Lahıc Zarnava Suspension Bridge
The Zarnava bridge made of iron over the Girdimanchay River ('chay' trn. 'river') in a area of small village of Zarnava nearby of Lahic.
The bridge 's suspended from vertical cables, which are supported by suspension cables.
They serve as vital infrastructure providing crossings over rivers and valleys.
It is attracting visitors with their scenic locations, offering a sense of adventure and it is kind of a gateway to the culturally rich of isolated by canions village of Lahij.
This is a notable point for Travellers to take photos, and enjoy the natural scenery of the river valley, with great surrounding mountains.
Tea break-Trying Lahij cuisine before even reaching the village.
To shake off your road fatigue - head to the Tea House located in one of the main street of the village for a glass of tea with herbs accompanied by rose petal jam.
In Lahij is “black halva” or “semeni halva” it is a dessert made with cardamon, anise, cinnamon, pepper and jasmine. Making this halva usually takes 4-5 hours.
You are welcome to start your exploration of Lahij cuisine before even reaching it – by tasting popular qutabs (stuffed pancakes) and flatbreads (famous) prepared on a saj in several minutes (large round metal plate) along the scenic Lahij road. The local type of qutab, which is different in each region of the country, called “pal’ and made from a locally grown herb in early spring delights your taste buds.
Highly recommended to buy some of the herbs and spices sold in shops. Herbs such as bay thyme and mountain leaf are growing only in these areas, are brewed and drunk, as well as added to local dishes for extra flavour. Look out especially for lemon thyme, which when brewed gives the pleasant aroma and taste of both lemon and thyme simultaneously.
Lahij village
The geologically spectacular canyon, about 3 hours drive from Baku city the little village of Lahij woos Travelers with its antique streets, stone village houses, many souvenir shops and incredible craftsmanship. Over than 40 different crafts are practised in this historic village, which dates back 2,000 years.

Lahij is known for its stunning copperwares, which were sold all over the Caucasus.
