With the boom of the oil industry in Baku City came an influx of both foreign western cash and ideas.
Eclectic architecture (Kulibekov's house) fusing not only east and west, but several western styles as well became prevalent in the architecture found in the city outside the medevial walls.

It is a mansion in Baku City. It was build by owner Mr. Dmitry Mitrofanov, a rich oil baron who employed Johann Edel as the architect for his residence.
Architectural style: French Renaissance Revival-style.
Sad Life of House of Alibekov's
Rza-bek Alibekov, by whose order the edifice was built, received his medical education in Russian city Kazan. There Alibeyov (Alibekov) met the architect NikolI Prokofiev to whom he later ordered the construction of the house.
