Hirosaki Castle may be a little far away from the main attractions of Japan
(in Aomori province, up north in Honshu), but this does mean that
it’s surrounded by marvellous nature, such as the pristine woods
around the castle grounds.
If you’d like to visit Hirosaki Castle, you should probably do it soon
for there are major renovation works scheduled from October 2014,
covering the moat and the main keep (which will be moved). They will
most likely take some 10 years, so this summer is a good
chance to see the last of the old keep!
