Itinerary Ideas

Factories are generally considered too basic by some. But, have you ever seen the Kawasaki Bay factory area? It has recently become popular with Instagrammers, particularly for nighttime photos. Well-placed lights make the architectural features of the factories stand out. The best way to see it is on the water. This was taken from a recent boat ride.

Taking the smallest boat available was a good decision. It has a capacity of 30 passengers. The captain was receptive to our request for good picture-taking spots. He chose the route closest to the factories and gave us time to take photos. These photos were a big hit on my social media!

Let me backtrack a bit. The boat left the Yokohama pier at 5PM. It was still light then. The view in the first few minutes was of the Yokohama skyline, bridges, and big ships carrying export products including cars.

It was twilight in about 15 minutes. We were closer to the Kawasaki factories by then. The outline of the reclaimed factories was thrown in sharp relief.

It was fascinating to see fumes and flames coming out of their chimneys. Don’t worry! It’s environment-friendly. The fumes are just steam. These factories are mainly thermal power plants, oil refineries, and steel manufacturers which work around the clock.

These photos are taken from my mobile phone. With a better camera, anyone can take even more beautiful photos!

I’d love to show you around!

Thank you, Captain! I had a great time.

Yokohama is a beautiful harbor city with mix of historical and modern buildings, and Chinatown with its genuine Chinese flavors .Excellent views and plenty of photo opps. It's just only 30 minutes away from Tokyo by train. Tour A is a walking tour with some options. Tour B (Sankeien Garden) is highly recommended if you're not going to either Kamakura or Kyoto. Additional options D, E , F, G & H are very unique, too. Combination of A & B (7 hours tour) is available. See you in Yokohama!
