Maybe, most of you imagine 'Someiyoshino' as cherry blossoms. 'Someiyoshino', which is the most common type of cherry blossoms in Japan, are clones. All 'Someiyoshino' are linked to a single tree. Philosopher's Path in Kyoto is such a famous sightseeing spot for 'Someiyoshino' in the end of March to early April.
There are, however, many other kinds of cherry blossoms in Japan.
'Kawazu Zakura' (Zakura means cherry blossoms in Japanese) get in bloom earlier than 'Someiyoshino', in early March to the middle of March. The flowers are pink, compared to rather white or light pink of 'Someiyoshino'.
Around Yodo Waterway is the famous place for seeing 'Kawazu Zakura' which many people visit. You can easily go there by Keihan railway from Kyoto or Osaka. (Please get off at 'Yodo Station'.)
If you are in Kyoto during March~April, you may see beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom!
