Let's walk along Nishiki and Teramachi street Nishiki food market
Nishiki street was called "The kitchen of Kyoto" Walking along the street, cheerful voices can be heard from each shop
You will find intereting food in the shops. When you enter from the west entrance.
First you will see the pickle shop and Oisters You can buy the rice cracker with various flavors at the entrance. Soon you will find millstone grinding tea leaves into maccha powder in front of the shop which sells Jelly-like sweets courted with maccha powder. called Warabi mochi. Of couser you will see many fish shops and 100 yen shop as well as chop stick shops You can get a little bites there if you like. such as fresh sashimi, Japanese omulet, roaste chesynuts, takoyaki, and soymilk doughnuts and soft icecream. My recommendation is a little salty cracker whth soy beans or greenpiece or black beans.

At the end of the street. you will see the Torii gate sticking into the wall of the next building.
Actually there was a gate first and then the building was built. So the edge of the torii gate comes out of the wall inside.
Let's go on walking along Teramachi street
There are many souvenir shops. Why don't you drop in at one of them?

Then you will find the tiny temple with a bell
Yata dera temple.
The main enshrined statue is Jizo bosatsu. which is one of Bosatsu, which save the people in any realm in Buddhism.
But the people believe that it save children. The bell here is said Okuri bell, which is believed that the bell is rung for the dead family to go back to Heaven after the stay at home during the special bon holidays in Japan.
( Of course there is another bell for welcoming back to this world )
Please keep going, then you will come to the very traditional old tea shop, Ippodo.
Here, you will take a rest to have Japanese tea. The staff here explains to us how to serve a good tea. Depending the kind of tea, the way varies.
The last place is the old town house which used to be a sake brewery.
The very last part of the tour, please enjoy tasting three kinds of sake!!!
