A 50-year-old park
Going out of Kitahanebashi-mon, one of the gates to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, through to Tayasu-mon is inside Kitanomaru Park where was the old site of the Imperial Guard Division from the Meiji period(1868-1912) to 1945, so there used to be the barracks. After World War Ⅱ, the construction of Kitanomaru Park started and it was opened to the public in 1969. In the park, there are several facilities including Nippon Budo-kan, an arena of martial arts and some museums. After walking around Kitanomaru Park and passing through Tayasu-mon, in front of you, there is Yasukuni Shrine located in the Kudan district.
