I am visiting Waseda University, one of the top private universities in Japan.
The founder of Waseda was Okuma Shigenobu.
His statue is located in the center of the campus.
On this campus, an old building is outstanding.
That is the Tsubouchi Memorial Theatre Museum which was founded in 1928.
The design of this building modeled on the historic Elizabethan "Fortune Playhouse"
Dr.Tsubouchi translated all the volumes of the "Complete Works of Shakespeare" from 1909 to 1928.
And also he dedicated himself to develop theatrical culture.
The collection is over one million works that are from a wide range of fields, extending from the theater and motion picture to other areas.
The Waseda International House of literature ( The Haruki Murakami Library) is scheduled to open on October 1, 2021.
