Kulen Mountain
Begin your journey to Phnom Kulen National Park, a sacred and historically significant site located northeast of Siem Reap. Your visit starts at the River of a Thousand Lingas, known in Sanskrit as “Sahasralinga,” meaning one thousand lingas. Carved into the riverbed, these sacred symbols of Shiva include numerous linga, some accompanied by yoni carvings, representing creation and fertility.
Beyond the linga, admire a rich collection of stone carvings depicting important Hindu mythology scenes, such as Vishnu reclining on the cosmic ocean, Brahma emerging from Vishnu’s navel atop a lotus to create the world, along with various animal sculptures etched into the rock. Continue to visit the Reclining Buddha, a revered statue carved directly into natural stone in the 16th century, reflecting the later Buddhist influence on this sacred mountain. Enjoy Kulen Waterfall, where you can relax and swim.
Elephant Sanctuary
Visit the elephant sanctuary and observe these gentle giants living freely in their natural forest environment. Before beginning the activities, you will receive an introduction and important information about the elephants and the sanctuary. Then, take part in preparing healthy food and feed the elephants directly.
Afterward, enjoy a memorable experience as you swim and play with the elephants in a natural setting. Finally, spend time observing their daily lives as they freely walk, socialize, and explore the surrounding forest.
