This experience is not a traditional city tour. It is a journey through time designed to help you understand Santiago — and Chile — from its origins to the present day.

Through storytelling, walking, observation, and small local tastings, we will explore how history, geography, migration, earthquakes, and daily life have shaped the city and its people.

Meeting Point

Hotel Pick-up & Transfer to Downtown Santiago

- We begin the experience with a hotel pick-up from the lobby (first floor reception). From there, we head toward downtown Santiago, setting the context for the city’s geography, history, and urban development as we approach the historic center.

Paseo Bulnes – Civic Axis of Santiago

Our walking tour starts at Paseo Bulnes, a pedestrian avenue designed as part of Santiago’s civic and political axis, aligned directly with the Government Palace. Here we introduce Chile’s republican history and the urban planning concepts behind the capital’s civic center.

Plaza Bernardo O’Higgins & La Moneda Palace

We walk across Plaza del Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins toward La Moneda Palace, Chile’s Government Palace. At this key stop, we discuss politics, democracy, and economic transformations in Chile over the last 50 years, including moments that have deeply shaped the country’s modern identity.

Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins & Plaza de la Constitución

We walk around La Moneda and cross Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, Santiago’s main avenue, arriving at Plaza de la Constitución. From here, we enter the historic core of the city, where colonial and post-colonial streets reveal Santiago’s layered past.

Historic Streets: Nueva York Street & Paseo Ahumada

We explore emblematic streets such as Nueva York Street, known for its early financial architecture, and Paseo Ahumada, one of Santiago’s main pedestrian arteries. These streets offer insight into commerce, urban life, social contrasts, and how Santiago functions on a daily basis.

Iglesia del Cristo de Mayo – Religion and Colonial Legacy

We visit the Church of Cristo de Mayo, a powerful symbol of Chile’s religious history. Here we discuss the role of Catholicism during the colonial period, Spanish influence, social control, and how religion became deeply embedded in Chilean society.

Plaza de Armas – The Birthplace of Santiago

At Plaza de Armas, the historical and symbolic heart of Santiago, we explore the origins of the city. Surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other key historic buildings, this square allows us to understand Chile’s foundation, colonial organization, and the evolution of public life.

Local Food Tasting:

Here we pause for a small tasting of traditional Chilean food, offering a glimpse into everyday flavors connected to local history and culture.

Bellavista Neighborhood & Funicular to San Cristóbal Hill

We move toward the Bellavista neighborhood, known for its cultural life and artistic spirit. From here, we take the funicular up San Cristóbal Hill (880 meters above sea level), one of Santiago’s most iconic viewpoints.

Panoramic Views & Cable Car Descent

At the summit, we enjoy one of the best panoramic views of Santiago. Weather permitting, we observe the Andes Mountains, Cerro El Plomo, nearby glaciers, and, in winter, the ski resorts.

We then descend by cable car, offering sweeping views of the eastern neighborhoods and the city’s relationship with the mountains.

Return to Hotel & Local Dining Recommendations

After descending from San Cristóbal Hill by cable car, we return to the hotel where the tour began. At the end of the experience, I provide personalized recommendations for nearby restaurants, cafés, or bars, offering the best local options to continue enjoying Santiago according to your preferences.

Tour Important Information

A large part of Santiago’s historic center is explored on foot. Walking allows us to avoid traffic, move efficiently between sites, and make the most of our time in the city. The pace is relaxed, with frequent stops, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

This tour is wheelchair accessible; however, please inform me in advance so I can adapt the route if needed.

Please let me know in advance about any food allergies or dietary restrictions so I can choose appropriate local tastings.

During summer months, it is recommended to wear light clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and bring water.

During winter months, warm clothing is advised, as temperatures in downtown Santiago can be quite cold.

As we will be walking through busy urban areas, it is recommended not to carry valuable items, passport or display them unnecessarily. This helps ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience.

Important message from the supplier

I specialize in tailor-made experiences designed specifically for each traveler. While I do not have fixed schedule restrictions, certain tours — especially outdoor, adventure, or sports-based experiences — require additional preparation time to ensure safety, quality, and a truly meaningful experience. For these types of tours, I kindly request a minimum of 4–5 days’ notice.

I am available to guide experiences any day of the week, throughout the year, depending on weather conditions and the nature of the activity. If your tour takes place outside the Santiago Metropolitan Region or in another region of Chile, I am happy to guide you as well; in these cases, transportation costs for the guide may apply and will always be communicated clearly in advance.

My approach goes beyond simply guiding: I curate each experience with care, local insight, and deep knowledge of the territory. Whether you are looking for nature, gastronomy, culture, wine, or adventure, my goal is to create an authentic, well-paced, and enriching journey that reflects the real Chile — adapted to your interests, travel style, and timing.

Feel free to reach out with your ideas or questions. I’ll be happy to help design an experience that truly fits what you are looking for.
