World War II in Split
This is a heritage tour, with the elements of a dark tour, which tells the story of World War II in Split. The tour places a great emphasis on the human aspect of the War and with storytelling, creates a better sense of reality and atmosphere of that time.
You can learn how the War affected the lives of ordinary people by hearing their stories of fighting, resistance, sacrifices and loses, but also discover which parts of the town were bombed or where the bomb shelters were.

This is where we meet and start the tour. You will find out when, where and why the war in Split started.
Diocletian's Palace
See the ancient palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian to learn which parts of it were attacked during the war.
Pjaca, People's Square
Visit the main square of the city to find out what terrible events took place there during the war.
Prokurative Square, Rupublic Square
Place where we end the tour and where you will learn about prisons and executions during the war.

Old photographs from the time of World War II, which are kept in the Museum of the City of Split. They are not in permanent display, but are kept in the archive and I have permission to use them.

During the tour, photographs of buildings that were damaged or destroyed will be provided. The photographs are the property of the Museum of the City of Split and are kept in the archives; but for this tour I have exclusive rights to use them.
