Adventure trip to Danakil Depression and Ert'ale
This trip is going on through a unique geological places
where ancient lava fields stretching out for many kilo meters with a depth of 5 kms in some places are still be seen. Most importantly, it is a region that the major paleontological sites where
Lucy an oldest hominid fossil (3.2mya) and many others are discovered. Besides, the Danakil Depression and Ertale which of course both are so unique and exceptional that one should see for life time experiences.
Meeting Point
At your hotel or Bole Int'l airport
Day 1- Addis Abeba.
Arrive Addis Ababa and take city tour to visit National museum where Lucy, the oldest hominid fossil is located, Trinity Cathedral, Marcato, the biggest open air market in Africa and more.
O/n hotel
Day 2- Addis Ababa- Semera-Ertale
Take breakfast then check out from hotel and fly to Semera town where we process some paper works before heading to Danakil depression. Having settled all the entrance payments and other related things, continue to Ertale with lunch stop in Afdera, a small village known for edible salt production.
After an early dinner, stroll up mount Ertale to see the active volcanic creator. Then back to campsite for dinner.
O/n camping
Day 3- Ertale-Amedela/Danakil
Early in the morning go back to the volcanic crator again (optional) to have morning experience around the active volcano and ancient lava fields. Enjoy photographing then back to your campsite for breakfast and packing up stuffs, finally heading to Amedela
with stop over at some villages of the nomadic Afar people, the only people living in this harsh climate. Amedela is a small village served as a camping base to visit Danakil Depression and camel caravan carrying salt bars from the desert to highland regions.

Day 4- Amedela-Danakil- Depresdion - Addis Ababa
Early breakfast then drive to Danakil depression one of the most inhospitable and lowest points on earth. Visit the sulphuric lake, Camel caravan, salt mining field, lake Asale and etc. After lunch, proceed to Semera to catch the flight to Addis Ababa. After farewell dinner at one of traditional restaurants, drop you at hotel or transfer to airport for departure home.

Important message from the guide
As I am working in the travel business, I work from Monday- Sunday. But in the month of May 2023, I am not available in Addis Ababa for I fly to Gondar. In case if your are coming there by that month, I can arrange you all the necessary things for the city tour of Gondar and trekking or day trip to the Simen mountains NP.
