- At your hotel, The guide will come directly to your accommodation to pick you up. At the airport , Look for your guide standing behind the metal barriers or among other drivers. They will be holding a physical sign with your name

Departure & Scenic Drive

Leave early to beat city traffic and maximize your daylight hours.

Travel west through Oromia's scenic mountain landscapes.

Arrive at Kala Rim

Arrive at Kala Rim (3,300m): Reach the Wenchi Eco-Tourism Association headquarters at the crater's edge. Pay your park fees and coordinate your local community guide.

Descent & Lake Exploration

Descent into the Caldera: Travel down the 4 km Fincha Trail into the lush crater. You can complete this leg via a 90-minute guided hike or by renting a horse from the local community.

11:30 AM

Island Boat Ride

Board a small wooden boat at the lakeshore dock. Cruise across the clear crater waters to Deber Island.

Afternoon: Picnic & Valley Trek

Lakeshore Picnic Lunch

Enjoy a packed picnic lunch on the shore. Bring your own food, as dining options inside the crater are limited.

Hot Springs & Watermills

Explore the green valley floor. Your guide will show you natural mineral hot springs and traditional watermills still used by locals to process teff grain.

Return Ascent

Hike or ride a horse back up the steep trail to the crater rim where your vehicle is parked.

Return Journey

Drive Back to Addis Ababa: Head east back toward the capital. Enjoy the sunset views over the Ethiopian highlands along the way.

Ending Point

07:30 PM – Drop-off: Arrive back at your hotel or accommodation in Addis Ababa.

* Weather at 3,300 meters above sea level can be cool and windy, though afternoons warm up. Sturdy footwear: Ideal for the 4-5 hour round-trip hike.

* Snacks and water:

* Pack plenty of water (reusable bottles preferred) and a packed lunch.

* Cash: Bring small Ethiopian Birr (ETB) for local services, horse rentals, boat fees, and optional guide tips.
