There are several places to visit nearby, for instance Hvittraesk, the home of the eccentric architect Eliel Saarinen. Alternatively we could spend the whole day in the medieval town Porvoo, perhaps having lunch at the beautiful Haikko Manor. Walking on the cobbled streets of Old Town Porvoo will take you back in time. The Finnish national composer, Jean Sibelius, lived in Tuusula and his former home, called Ainola, is today a museum. It's only a 30 min drive from the city and open during summer. When you want to see Finnish design and architecture, I am your guide. Jyvaskyla in Central Finland is the capitol of Alvar Aalto’s architecture which I’d love to show you. The drive by car is 4 hours from Helsinki, or 3 hrs 30 min by train. In a previous life I was a tour guide in Greece, Spain and Italy, so I am more than experienced with both large and small groups. I am especially interested in Scandinavian history, art, architecture, design, Jean Sibelius, cycling, hiking, meeting people and. . . . sauna! My tours can be tailored to suit my customers' needs and interests, e.g. day trips to medieval city of Porvoo, surrounding countryside or the National Park of Nuuksio and heritage sauna tours can also be arranged on request. Hi, I am Nina. My guiding career begins from Lapland from 1995, where I made my first tours for example at the touristic icebreaker Sampo. Since 1996 I have lived in Helsinki. Before I become Helsinki Guide 2003, I guided also in the Parliament House, Helsinki Museum of Art (HAM) and Museum of the Cultures. Since 2003 as Helsinki authorized guide I have made all kind of tours by bus, taxi, bike, boat, tram and of course by walking in Helsinki, Espoo and the surroundings like Porvoo, and Tuusulanjärvi. “A memorable experience with our personal guide”
We went with Mr Timo for our tour of Suomenlinna Fortress on the 25th of December. We had our seven-year-old boy with us on tour. Our meeting made it very apparent that Mr Timo belongs to Helsinki and knows the city properly. He knew a great deal of history and geopolitics. He kept the tour lively, with just enough history and a good deal of Finnish culture. Conversation with him was relevant and we never got bored. I strongly recommend him as anyone's tour guide.

“City Highlights Tour”
I booked with Arja a few days before our arrival in Helsinki and she was quick to respond to my request. We had an amazing tour with Arja and her husband, Timo. Picked up on time, saw lots of sites, interesting stories. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having a good time. The day ended with sauna and a swim.
