Haedong Yonggung Temple

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is the closest 'sea temple' to the sea. It is the predecessor of Bomunsa Temple, founded in 1376, and the Guanyin Temple, re-established in 1974. It is famous for its beautiful ocean views, the Great Buddha of Avalokiteśvara, and the 108 steps. It is also known as a place where one's wish will surely come true if one prays sincerely, making it a popular tourist attraction.

Haeundae/Dongbaekseom Island

As the name suggests, it was originally an island, but as you can see in the photo above, it was attached to the mainland due to sedimentation and became a peninsula-shaped, landlocked island. As the name Dongbaekseom suggests, camellia flowers bloom abundantly from winter to spring. Thanks to the scenery of


Camellia flowers, pine forests, and the sea have made it a famous tourist destination for years. You can see locals taking a walk all day long, enjoying a walk around the island. It takes about 20 minutes to walk around at a leisurely pace. Auxiliary facilities include the Nurimaru APEC House, which was used as an APEC


conference hall in 2005, the Dongbaekseom Lighthouse, a statue of Choi Chi-won, the person who first named "Haeundae," and a rock with the inscription Sea Cloud Platform, said to have been engraved by Choi Chi-won himself. Princess Hwangok and the Mermaid Statue, etc. In 2015, a complex cultural space called The Bay 101 opened.
