Tizi N ticheka

Between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, this vertiginous road takes you though some of the High Atlas’ most beautiful sites over nearly 200 kilometres. The natural landscapes and their colours change constantly along the drive, so this road provides a condensed version of all the surprising richness of the region, and numerous opportunities for hikes.

Snaking through the mountain road’s twists and turns, the drive rises atop the plains to reach its culminating point, the Tizi N Tichka mountain pass (“the pasture pass”, 2260 m), an imposing natural barrier between the provinces of Marrakech and Ouarzazate. The view and change in altitude are quite impressive. You’ll next cross the Tizi N’Aït Imquer mountain pass, which offers an astounding panorama over the Jebel Tistouit, in the middle of a ring of snow peaked mountains. Below, you’ll see a number of kasbahs and little villages.

Day 1 : Ouarzazate/ Kasbah Ait ben Hadou

Between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, this vertiginous road takes you though some of the High Atlas’ most beautiful sites over nearly 200 kilometres. The natural landscapes and their colours change constantly along the drive, so this road provides a condensed version of all the surprising richness of the region, and numerous opportunities for hikes.

Below, you’ll see a number of kasbahs and little villages.

Day 1 : Skoura Palm Grove

This small village is celebrated for its lush green oasis and magnificent palm groves. As you wander through the Skoura palm grove, you’ll be greeted by towering date palms, citrus orchards, and fragrant blossoms that create an oasis of tranquility.

Skoura is also a testament to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. Here you can feel the warm hospitality of the local Berber communities, who have preserved their traditions and way of life for generations.

Visit traditional mud-brick Kasbahs, fortified palaces that stand as a testament to the region’s historical significance. Explore the local souks, bustling markets where vibrant colors and captivating smells will ignite your senses.

Day 1 : Night in the hotel Dades Valley

You spend the night in Dades Valley with dinner and breakfast.

Tinghir is a stunning oasis city in central Morocco, located in the Drâa-Tafilalet region at an altitude of 1,342 meters between the High Atlas and Jebel Saghro mountains. Famous for its massive 25-kilometer palm grove and the dramatic Todra Gorge, it is a vibrant hub of Berber (Amazigh) culture.

Nestled in the Todra Valley along the edge of the desert.Features a striking contrast of lush green palm trees against red limestone mountain cliffs.Serves as a major crossroad stop between Marrakech, Ouarzazate, and the Sahara desert dunes.

Day 2 : Tinghir Palm Grove

You visit Todra gorges and head towards dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.

The Palmeraie de Tinghir is a massive, lush green oasis in southeastern Morocco. It stretches roughly 15 to 30 kilometers along the Todra River between the High Atlas Mountains and Jebel Sahro, creating a striking emerald contrast against the dry, red-rock desert landscape.

Day 2 : Night over berber tent in Merzouga

A night with Saharien music and traditional food

Merzouga is on the edge of Erg Chebbi, a 50km long and 5km wide set of dunes that reach up to 350m. Most people are here to take a camel safari into the dunes, and to get a taste of remote (tourism-influenced) Berber life.

The local population is a mix of Arabs and Berbers and is generally welcoming and friendly.

Day 3 : Arfoud Risani

Saharien villages Arfoud Rissani Elkhemlya

Erfoud and Rissani are twin oasis hubs in southeastern Morocco's Tafilalet region. Rissani is an ancient medieval trade capital built upon the ruins of historic Sijilmassa and the birthplace of the ruling Alaouite Dynasty, while Erfoud is a planned administrative town founded by the French in the 1930s, now famous for fossils and dates
