Meeting Point
At the airport in Kathmandu
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu & Half-day Sightseeing (Thamel & Kathmandu Durbar Square)
Once you arrive at the airport in Kathmandu, one of our representatives will meet you there and guide you towards your hotel. On the way, he will brief out the summary of Nepalese cultures and beliefs to help you adjust to a new cultural environment. When you reach the hotel, freshen up and take rest. Your guide will meet you at your hotel. He will point out some preliminary information about the trip, and then, you will start your sightseeing.
For today, Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square are enough places to visit. Lined up by a never-ending chain of handicraft and souvenir vendors, the busy streets of Thamel is the most animated market of Nepal. From the classic Thangkas to the therapeutic singing bowl, Thamel has all that extra prettiness to entice a visitor.
Through Thamel, we will walk for about 20 minutes to Kathmandu Durbar Square, also known as the Basantapur Durbar Kshetra. The classic buildings with intricate carvings of godly images and lifestyle patterns show the complexity of the design. There are over dozens of such structures, built in a pagoda style. While most of today’s physical architectures date back to the 16th century, the original structure was built in the 3rd century.
After sightseeing, you will return to your hotel.
*The meeting time can be flexible depending on your flight.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Chovar, Kirtipur)
Today, we will go to visit some other UNESCO listed cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu- Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Chovar, and Kirtipur.
Patan Durbar Square (12th-century heritage), now a museum, was the royal palace of Malla Kings. This complex was built in the Newari architecture with intense carvings around the windows and doors. Still, there are dozens of little shrines, intricate enough to perplex anyone who sees it.
Pashupatinath Temple (18th century) is another masterpiece of complex designs. With over 400 shrines of Lord Shiva, the temple of Pashupatinath reveals how God has been inspiring the living of Nepalese people.
With its massive mandala and erect golden spire, Boudhanath Stupa (8th century) boasts to be the largest unique stupa in the world. The prayer flags crisscross the sky, and the peaceful monks surround the arena.
Swayambhunath Temple is as complex as the Boudhanath Stupa. Sitting on top of the hill, this temple peers at the wonderful views of the Kathmandu valley.
While Chovar is famous for its massive gorge and cave, Kirtipur shelters century’s old temples and stupas. Both are incredible places to visit.
In the evening, you will return to your hotel.
Day 3: Drive to Nagarkot for sunrise view & Sightseeing (Changunarayan Temple & Bhaktapur Durbar Square)
In the dark of the morning, leave Kathmandu to watch the glorious sunrise over the mountains from Nagarkot. The hills of the Nagarkot are adorned with the tiny settlements and dense forests. Beyond the hills, a wide panorama of snowy mountains glitters in the daylight. As the sun gradually mounts over the horizon, the mountains undress the white to wear a new golden outwear. It appears so fabulous that some visitors turn emotional at this point.
After sunrise, hike to the Changunarayan temple, sitting atop the hill. This temple is the oldest known temple of Nepal, whose origin dates back to the 2nd century. Explore the exquisite designs and sculptures of the temple. Then, drive to the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of the most pristine heritages of Nepal. The surrounding is clean and every detail of the temple is preserved by the local government and the people.
Later, return to your hotel.
Day 4: Departure
Finally, the time has come to leave Kathmandu. Our representative will accompany you up to the airport to bid you warm wishes and a safe flight.
