People who make pilgrimages to Mt. Fuji purify themselves here and wish for safe climbing. In 2013, it was added as a component part of the World Heritage Site, Mt. Fuji. Next we’ll drive to Shiraito-no-Taki, which is located at the base of Mt. Fuji. It means ‘Waterfall of White Threads’ because the water springing out of the lava cracks look like white threads. We will also visit Otodome-no-Taki nearby. Our final destination is Lake Tanuki. It is located in Asagiri Highlands on the west side of Mt. Fuji. We can walk or cycle around the lake while enjoying spectacular views of Mt .Fuji, in particular its reflection on the lake’s surface. We can see Diamond Fuji twice a year and it looks like a diamond ring. Let’s visit the goddess’ blessed area and enjoy the clean and serene atmosphere together.

We'll visit 3 popular tourist spots in the center of Shizuoka City. First we’ll trace back the great achievements of the first shogun, Ieyasu Tokugawa at Sumpu Castle where he spent his last days. It contains two reconstructed arsenal buildings, the eastern gate, and the Momijiyama Japanese garden where you can casually enjoy a cup of Shizuoka green tea. Then we’ll visit Sengen Shinto Shrine which was rebuilt by his grandson Iemitsu, the third shogun. On the way to the shrine, you will have a chance to shop for traditional arts and crafts as well as some Japanese sweets. Our final destination is Shizuoka Hobby Square. As “the World Capital of Models”, our city is proud of the various hobby manufactures. In an official shop, you can buy your favorite figures. Let’s explore old and new Shizuoka together!

We'll visit 3 popular tourist spots in Shimizu Ward of Shizuoka City. First we’ll visit the Kuno Toshogu Shrine via a ropeway from Nippondaira Hill. This shrine was built by the second shogun, Hidetada Tokugawa, to commemorate his father, Ieyasu Tokugawa, the first shogun of the Edo Period (1603-1869).The buildings are covered with beautiful elaborate carvings and sculptures that were designated as a national treasure in 2012. Next we’ll move to the observatory deck on the hill. From here you can look over Shimizu Seaport, Suruga Bay and Izu Peninsula. It’s a perfect time to take photographs of the magnificent Mt. Fuji with green tea fields and mandarin orange orchards in the foreground. Our final destination is Miho-no-Matsubara, where more than 30,000 pine trees extend about 7km along the seashore. I’ll tell you the famous legend “Hagoromo Story” at this pine grove. Let’s go and explore these historic places; you can take lots of nice pictures!
