Welcome to Shizuoka in the central area of Japan. I was born in Hakone, Kanagawa Pref. and grew up in Izu Peninsula, also studied English at Kanagawa University in Yokohama. I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. It takes about only one hour from Tokyo or Nagoya by the super express Shinkansen. I’d love to introduce you some historical places related to the first shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa, local arts and crafts and modern hobby manufactures as well as local specialities such as green tea, citrus fruits, and fresh seafood. Let’s visit scenic spots on the base of Mt. Fuji together. You can not miss many hot spring resorts in Izu Peninsula. I also recommend visiting industrial musems of Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda,Toyota, etc. in Hamamatsu area. People in Shizuoka are very friendly and welcome guests from overseas. Izu Experience-"Wasabi field" ,Great nature and Sushi

Start from Shuzenji station, we go through a way of the among mountains in Naka Izu to visit one of the wasabi field .With its pure water and unspoiled natural surroundings, this area produces one of the best Wasabi in Japan and you are surprised to see beautiful wasabi terraces along the river. On your requests, you can experience "wasabi Picking"(seasonal ) and wasabi pickles making(all the seasons ) by local housewives.Then going deeper into the mountain, you see Banjo Falls (20m high and 6 m width). You stand in front of its great water fall to feel just relax. “Stunning north/central Izu! ”

We went on a half-day, guided tour of north/central Izu and can honestly say it was an amazing tour! Yasuko-san was a terrific guide who provided a very appealing itinerary that included, among other things, a tour of waterfalls and wasabi fields. She communicated with us on a regular basis leading up to the tour and readily accommodated us based on our interests and time constraints. She met us promptly at the train station on the day of the tour and assisted us in securing a chartered taxi ahead of time. Yasuko-san and the driver took us to outstanding and remote points of interest that we would’ve never discovered on our own. The Izu region is simply beautiful with an abundance of nature, charm, and history. Bottom line, we highly recommend hiring Yasuko-san as a guide. She was warm, personable, and very professional. Moreover, we highly recommend going with this company as they helped resolve an initial problem with another guide and subsequently referred us to Yasuko-san.
