Meeting Point
Nicoll Highway MRT Station (CC5) Exit A
- We will meet at Nicoll Highway MRT Station and will start the tour from there after introductions and briefing. OR Hotel Lobby [Alternatively we can meet at the lobby of your hotel / accommodation and make our way to the next stop as accordingly]
Beach Road (Overhead Bridge)
We will stop along parts of the overhead bridge leading from Nicoll Highway MRT station to CityGate Mall. You will learn about Beach Road and how it got its name, the development of the area and interesting facts about the area.
Hajjah Fatimah Mosque / Opp Golden Mile Tower
We will stop along Beach Road and overlook Golden Mile Tower and understand more about the history of Golden Mile Complex and Golden Mile Tower and the interesting history of cinema during that period.
We will also see Hajjah Fatimah Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Singapore and one of the rare mosques that is named after a woman. Learn more about the uniqueness of the mosque's architecture and its humble beginnings.
Golden Mile Food Centre / Beach Road Army Market
We will walk to the Golden Mile Food Centre, where we will have a short break to get a quick bite. Learn more about the history of food culture and hawker centres in Singapore.
We will also visit the Beach Road Army Market and understand a little about mandatory military service in Singapore and the importance of the Army Market's existence during the nation's formative years.
Alsagoff Arab School
We will walk through the neighbourhood around Beach Road and understand the livelihood of Singaporeans.
We will stop opposite Alsagoff Arab School and learn about the history of the school and the Madrasah and how their education system is different from regular schools in Singapore.
Malabar Mosque
We will walk along Jalan Sultan and stop at the cross junction of Victoria Street and Jalan Sultan to see Malabar Mosque. Learn about the different Muslims migrating to Singapore and the significance of the different communities within Singapore.
New World Centre (Syed Alwi Road / Jalan Besar)
We will walk along Jalan Sultan and into Syed Alwi Road to listen more about the neighbourhood of Jalan Besar. We will stop at corners of New World Centre to see the famous food eateries of Jalan Besar, including the Sungei Road Laksa and Swee Choon Dim Sum. We will also get to see the different shophouses that shaped the area.
Tyrwhitt Road
We will walk along Jalan Besar and stop at Tyrwhitt Road, where we will learn about the history of Jalan Besar and its surroundings, including the Jalan Besar Stadium, one of the venues for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
We will also get to see the different shophouses and establishments, past and present, that gives Jalan Besar its reputation.
Petain Road Shophouses
We will walk across Jalan Besar and into Petain Road to visit the Petain Road Shophouses. Learn more about this row of well-preserved shophouses and the history of shophouses in Singapore and understand the controversy within the area.
City Square Mall
We will walk towards City Square Mall and visit the old site of New World Amusement Park and discover more about the evolution of entertainment in Singapore and changing tastes within the society. Learn more about City Square Mall's effort in going green and a little teaser to Little India.

1. This walking tour will take approximately 2.5-3 hours. Please wear light and with comfortable walking shoes, as there will be quite a bit of walking. We will have breaks in between. Access to the toilet may or may not be limited based on location, so you might like to consider using the toilet before the start of the tour.
2. Please bring water as it will be rather hot and humid. (You definitely need to keep hydrated)
3. This is a rain or shine event. We would do our best to accompany to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our guests. Itinerary might change, should there be unfavourable weather. We will recommend you to bring an umbrella or poncho in case.
