DAY 1 : Pick-up from agreed location in Cape Town
Visit to the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse Museum
Guests can climb the historic lighthouse for panoramic views over the rugged coastline and learn about shipwrecks along the “Graveyard of Ships.”
Walk to the Southernmost Tip of Africa Landmark
A guided walk to where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans officially meet, with time for photos and interpretation of the area’s geology and history.
Lunch at a Local Coastal Restaurant
Enjoy a relaxing seafood or traditional South African meal at one of Agulhas’ ocean-view restaurants, offering fresh catches and regional flavours.
Explore the Agulhas National Park Boardwalk Trails
A short, scenic walk along wooden boardwalks to experience the unique fynbos vegetation, coastal birdlife, and dramatic rocky shoreline.
DAY 1 : Drive to Garden Route Game Lodge
As you leave Cape Agulhas, the journey continues through rolling wheat and canola farmlands, dotted with small farm villages and wide open landscapes typical of the Overberg region. The route then joins the N2 Garden Route corridor, offering scenic mountain passes, forests, and glimpses of the Indian Ocean. Depending on your lodge location, guests may pass through or near charming Garden Route towns such as Swellendam, Heidelberg, Albertinia, or Mossel Bay, each known for Cape Dutch architecture, farmlands, and fynbos-covered hills.
Wildlife sightings are sometimes possible along the way, including blue cranes, springbok, and other farmlands animals. The scenery gradually shifts from rural farmlands to bushveld terrain, signalling the approach to the safari reserve.
DAY 1 : Arrive at Garden Route Safari Game {Albertina}
After settling into their rooms, guests can take some time to unwind and soak in the atmosphere of the lodge. They may enjoy complimentary refreshments on the viewing deck while overlooking the surrounding plains and observing wildlife that often grazes near the lodge. Guests can explore the lodge facilities, including the swimming pool, lounge areas, bar, or curio shop. A short nature walk around the lodge’s designated safe areas is also encouraged for those who’d like to stretch their legs and appreciate the sounds and scenery of the bush. This relaxed break allows everyone to refresh, prepare cameras, and get ready for the excitement of the upcoming afternoon game drive.
DAY 1 : After the Afternoon Game Drive
After the Afternoon Game Drive
The afternoon game drive typically lasts 2 to 3 hours, returning to the lodge around 18:30–19:00, depending on the season and wildlife sightings. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed back with warm towels and a refreshing drink. There is usually some free time to freshen up before dinner.
Evening Activities Before Lodging
Dinner at the Lodge Restaurant
Guests enjoy a hearty buffet or à la carte dinner featuring South African cuisine, grilled meats, fresh salads, and warm desserts. Meals are often served in a boma or dining hall overlooking the reserve.
Relaxing Around the Fire or Bar Area
After dinner, guests can unwind around the outdoor firepit, sharing stories from the game drive or enjoying a drink from the bar.
Optional Night Sky Viewing
Depending on the lodge, guests may be invited to enjoy stargazing under the clear African sky, with guides pointing out major constellations and the Milky Way.
Leisure Time Before Bed
Guests are free to return to their rooms to rest, enjoy a warm shower, or sit on their private deck listening to the night sounds of the bush.
DAY 2 : Morning Game Drive & Breakfast Schedule
The morning game drive usually begins early, when wildlife is most active.
Most lodges start the drive between 06:00 and 06:30.
Guests are woken up or alerted shortly before departure, and light refreshments such as coffee, tea, and rusks are often provided before boarding the vehicle.
The drive lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours, returning to the lodge around 08:00–09:00.
DAY 2 : Return Journey Activities (After Breakfast & Checkout)
After enjoying breakfast and checking out of the lodge, the group will begin the journey back toward Cape Town with a scenic stop at the Stony Point Penguin Colony in Betty’s Bay, home to one of the largest African Penguin colonies in South Africa.
