You are picked up at 9.00 a.m. from the hotel in Kandy and drive to Spice & Herbal garden.
The highest demand for the spices was originated in Sri Lanka during the Dutch and British colonial period. The farmers were encouraged and sponsored by the throne to cultivate spices during that period. Spices are used in traditional cooking in making Aurweda medicine, fragrance, cosmetic and toothpaste. Turmeric, clove, cinnamon, pepper, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg and mace, lemon grass, citronella, curry leaves and all Kind of spices & herbal plants can be seen here.
There are ayurvedic treatments available especially for diabetics, cholesterol, heart diseases, back pain and all kind of aches in your body also ayurvedic cosmetics including creams, balms and ointments can be seen here.
Then your second destination is Giragama Tea factory. Tea processing is another interesting area to be studied, you can understand and learn about tea processing when you visit a tea factory. Also, you can purchase fresh tea products from the factory outlet.
