About Tour Guide Muzaffer E.
Welcome to Türkiye!
I am a professional tourist guide based in Istanbul, passionate about sharing the rich history, culture, and daily life of my hometown and country. Whether you are interested in history, culture, art, archaeology, food, or local traditions, I would be delighted to create a meaningful experience tailored to your interests.
After graduating as valedictorian from the Department of Econometrics at Uludağ University and gaining several years of professional experience in the finance and foreign trade sectors in Türkiye, I moved to the United States. While pursuing a master’s degree in Economics at George Washington University, I was awarded two prestigious postgraduate scholarships by the University of Nottingham. I subsequently moved to the United Kingdom and earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
Upon returning to Istanbul, I began a master’s degree in Econometrics at Marmara University (thesis in progress) with the aim of pursuing a PhD in Econometrics. It was also during this period that I took my first steps toward a professional career in tourism.
During nearly four years in Washington, D.C., I served as a volunteer translator for Turkish delegations and international students hosted by non-profit organizations supported by the U.S. government. I also volunteered as a cultural guide for Turkish delegations and international students during cultural tours that included visits to the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum complex. These experiences inspired me to present Istanbul—my hometown—and Türkiye to international visitors in an accurate and meaningful way.
After returning to Türkiye, I completed the Tourist Guidance Program at Cappadocia University on a full scholarship. I also hold an Associate Degree in Cultural Heritage and Tourism and have been studying Art History at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
I look forward to welcoming you to Istanbul and helping you discover Türkiye.

“Full-day private tour of Istanbul”
Muzaffer was very accommodating, meeting us at hotel and shepherding us back after a day of touring. He was personable and knowledgeable, steered us to an inexpensive lunch, an overlooked mosque, and an excellent stall in the Spice Market. We got lost at times in his narration of Turkiye's admittedly complex history, but came away very happy with out booking.

“Excellent personalized experience at Grand Bazaar and Spice Market”
We spent three tour days with Muzaffer and on our thirds day experienced the bazaars with him. He met us in our hotel and together we headed to 16th century caravanseri to listen to a Turkish carpet lecture during which we learned about the production of silk and the how hand knotted rugs are created. My children and I were able to learn how to make our own double knots with an artisan working on a silk rug, which helped us understand the time and work that goes into such an intricate piece. We viewed dozens and dozens of rugs and Muzaffer even purchased for us some local desserts for us to try as he patiently waited for us to figure out which carpet to purchase! We were off to Grand Bazaar to learn abut its history and importance. There, he helped us mailed off my daughter’s postcard for her first grade class, took us to a Rick Steves vetted cashmere vendor for girls scarves (extremely patient with them as they chose color after color), then an authentic place for Turkish bath towels. It was a great way to experience the Grand Bazaar, which could otherwise be quite overwhelming. Finally, he toured us at the Spice Market where he brought us to a reputable spice and tea dealer so we could sample and choose all the spices we wanted. He was very generous with his time, took us to exactly where we desired to go in the markets, and ensured we were always safe and purchasing authentic products. He even made recommendations and arrangements for us on all of our remaining free days in Istanbul so that we could maximize our time and experiences in the city! Cannot emphasize enough his kindness and patience- highly recommend.

“Scholarly tour and excellent food!”
We spent three days with Muzaffer and on our second day we toured Topkapi Palace with him. He is an absolute scholar— from the beginning at the engraved gates and courtyards, Hagia Eirene, to the eunuchs dormitory, Harem quarters, history of concubines, importance of the sultan’s mothers, imperial tasters, Sultan’s receiving line, and saw Spoon Diamond and Emerald dagger. You can tell he is proud of the rich history of his country and sharing his extensive knowledge about this beautiful palace. He even gifted us a book, “The Traveler’s Eye” so that we could read the chapter her wrote in it. Truly a scholar! Afterwards, we went to Kadikoy and did street food tour with Muzaffer and his partner Dilan, started with local "wet" burger, then street food fried intestine hoagie and two stuffed mussels, Cafe Erol for some treats, ventured to a pickle house, then charcuterie place for local cheese and cured beef pastrami and sausage, then lahmacun (thin flatbread with minced beef wrapped around fresh parsley and lemon) and cheese pide, then finally Ciya Sofrasi for traditional mezze and stews. We were excited to experience the Asia side of Istanbul through the lens of the local cuisine, which was exciting for all of us to try. Through everything, Muzzafer and Dilan were always patient, took their time to explain everything, and never rushed us.

There is a saying in the Middle East called "hello". If you look in the dictionary; It will translate as "hello" but the real meaning of this word is "you will find friendship here, feel comfortable". Merhaba, I'm Dogan. I am 27 years old, I have a degree in both international relations and international trade, a master's degree in guidance, and I am currently an art history student. I have been a student for many years and my area of expertise is having a pleasant time with a low budget - just like students.

Uğur K.
Hello, I am Uğur. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at the university, I started working in tourism. Then one day I realized that guidance would make me more enjoy and self-actualization. Because I was hungry for history, I was hungry for knowledge, my curiosity was high. I developed myself in this field and became a tour guide professionally by taking the official trainings we need to take. Here I was in the field that I was looking for and made me happy. When I first started working in the field, I was very excited, I made simple mistakes out of excitement, but they all tasted good, maybe it is these pleasant mistakes that still give the local flavor to the tours I do. Even though I travel and tell the same places with different people from all over the world, the feeling of traveling to the same places with different friends or different places with the same friends never goes away. Sharing my knowledge and empathizing with people makes me feel happy. I have friends from all over the world and this is the best part of this job. I love my job, I love history, I love people... Recently, I have been working as a mediator in order to make social use of the experience I have gained in this field and try to make a positive impact on the society I live in.
