This tour shows you my own preferred sites in Zurich!
It's a slow walking tour around and in Zurich old town. You will see many interesting view points, squares, restaurants and buildings along our walk inside the marvellous old town Zurich.
From the main station to the eth terrace, to some of the important churches, passing as well the lake of Zurich, and back to Munsterhof, Paradeplatz and the known Bahnhofstrasse, which leads us back to the main station.
This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!
Meeting Point
main station Zurich
- in the old part of the station, there is an angel. You can't miss it. We meet just below it. I always use a brown leather bag.
Main station Zurich
By far the biggest public transportation knot, it‘s used by up to 400‘000 travellers daily we visit the shopville one level below, and you‘ll be informed about the various stations, ticket offices, free wlan and many other topics.
eth terrace
We pass the limmat river, and have a nice view point close to central square. There we move with the funicular, up to the eth terrace. That's a special view point, showing you the old town and mount Uetliberg behind.
Perdigerkirche
It is the first of Zurich‘s famous four churches we encounter on our tour. Nowadays, it‘s used as an archive, while the added library is on the site where the original abbey stood.
Grossmünster
The church is really important to protestantism in Zurich. I'll give you some basic information about that, and we have a short stop inside. The atmosphere is special.
Bellevue/Sechseläuten
It’s the site of famous restaurants and much more. Many events take place here. The view of lake Zurich is wonderful.
Bauschänzli
Now a nice viewpoint and a restaurant, it used to be part of Zurich's defence system.
Fraumünster
The church is famous for the windows, which were designed by Chagall and Giacometti. As the entrance is not free, we visit the outside and have a look on the beautiful Münsterhof.
Paradeplatz
Once Zurich's main banks were on that square. Now only UBS is left. Famous is obviously the Sprüngli chocolate, with a dependency on the square.
Lindenhof
We climb the last hill, with a marvellous shady square. Once it was the center of roman Zurich. Up there, you have a last spectacular view point on Zurich!
Rennweg
Historically one of Zurich's first extensions to the roman center area, it's nowadays an area with many international brands.
Bahnhofstrasse
From Rennweg, we have a short walk along Zurich‘s famous main business road, with all the modern brands along it. It leads us back to the main station Zurich!

-A walk around the old town Zurich, with it‘s most famous squares, buildings and viewpoints
We use a funicular, for a short part. You can buy the ticket at the ticketing machine (about 1.30 euros/1.30 usd) on tour, or you have a swiss pass, or a ‚Zone 110‘ ticket.
Snacks, drinks etc. are excluded.
This tour is a walking tour. Public transportation is never more than 5 minutes away. I therefore recommend comfortable shoes.
It's not recommended for those with severe back/knee problems.
It's not accessible by wheelchairs. Pets are allowed, just not in the only church we enter.
A typical tour starts on 2 pm.
