Meeting Point
At Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan border
- We will meet you at the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Day 1. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Border - Murgab
- We will meet at Kyzyl-Art Pass (4,280 m), the official border crossing and gateway into Tajikistan, where our Pamir journey begins.
- After entering Tajikistan, we descend into the vast high-altitude landscapes of the Eastern Pamirs, surrounded by dramatic, colorful mountain scenery.
- Our first major highlight is Karakul Lake, where we enjoy breathtaking views of one of the highest and largest alpine lakes in Central Asia.
- We stop for lunch near Karakul Lake and take a relaxing walk along its shoreline, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and wide-open mountain panoramas.
- After Karakul, we continue deeper into the Pamirs and gradually ascend again toward the legendary Khushang Pass (Ak-Baital Pass, 4,655 m) — the highest point of the Pamir Highway and one of the highest motorable passes in the world.
- From the pass, we descend through remote, rugged high-altitude terrain of the Eastern Pamir Plateau as we continue our journey toward Murghab.
- Accommodation: In Murghab.
Day 3. Murgab - Bibi Fotima Hot Spring
- The next day, we continue our journey across the stunning landscapes of the Pamir Plateau. Along the way, we stop at a pristine spring-fed pool known in Kyrgyz as Ak-Balik, which means “White Fish.” After enjoying lunch in Alichur village, we continue our drive, passing by Sasikul (Stinky Lake) and Tezkul (Salty Lake) along the way.
- Along the way, we pass Chukur-Kul Lake and Khargush Lake, and later cross the Khargush Pass (4,344 m). After crossing the pass, we are rewarded with magnificent views of the great Hindu Kush mountain range.
- We then continue our journey along the Pamir River, one of the five tributaries of the Panj River, also known as the Amu Darya. Upon arrival in Langar village, we enjoy lunch at a local guesthouse, followed by a visit to the ancient petroglyphs carved into the surrounding rocks.
- Our journey proceeds to Yamchun, where we ascend to the impressive Yamchun Fortress, also known as the Fortress of the Fire Worshippers—one of the region’s most iconic historical landmarks. Afterward, we visit the Bibi Fotima Hot Spring, where travelers can relax and enjoy its therapeutic waters. We spend the night at a nearby hotel, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Wakhan Corridor.

Day 4. Bibi Fotima Hot Spring - Khorog
- After breakfast at the guesthouse near Bibi Fotima Hot Spring, we begin our journey westward through the Wakhan Corridor. Continuing along the Wakhan Valley, we drive beside the Panj River, with magnificent mountain scenery accompanying us throughout the route—the Pamirs rising on one side and the Hindu Kush on the other.
- Our next stop is Vrang village, where we visit the ancient Vrang Stupa (4th–7th century). This five-level stone structure overlooks the Panj River and forms part of a historic Buddhist complex that includes remnants of defensive walls, towers, and monks’ caves. Local tradition holds that the upper stone bears the footprint of the Buddha, offering insight into the region’s rich spiritual past.
- As we proceed further west, sweeping panoramas unfold, including views toward the majestic Karl Marx Peak (6,723 m). Driving along the northern bank of the river, we enjoy uninterrupted vistas of the surrounding mountains. En route, we take a short walk to explore the impressive ruins of Kakh-Kakha Fortress (4th century AD), constructed during the Kushan era.
- We then continue to Ishkashim, a welcoming town at the entrance to the Wakhan Corridor, once a strategic crossroads during the 19th-century Great Game. From there, the road leads us to the renowned Garmchashma Hot Spring, set amid striking mountain landscapes, before we proceed onward to Khorog.
Day 5. Khorog - Kalai Khum
- We begin our drive in the morning along the Panj River toward Kalai Khumb. Along the way, we make stops for photographs, enjoying scenic views of the river valley and the traditional Afghan villages on the opposite bank.
- From across the river, we catch glimpses of rural Afghan life set against a dramatic mountain backdrop.
Accommodation: Local Gusthouse
Day 5. Kalai Khum - Dushanbe
- Our journey today follows along the Panj river. We stop for lunch in Kulob, and before continuing our drive, we visit the Mausoleum of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani (1314–1384), the 14th-century Persian Sufi scholar, poet, and saint from Hamadan, Iran, who played a key role in spreading Islam in Kashmir.
- Along the way, travelers visit the ancient 9th-century Hulbuk Fortress and the Hulbuk Museum, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region’s rich history and cultural heritage.
- After we arrive to Dushanbe we will check into the hotel and rest before we go see the Flag Pole Park and Main Square.
- Accommodation: Hotel Asia Grand
Day 6. Dushanbe
- Arrival in Dushanbe early in the morning.
- Rest and Relaxation at the hotel to recover from the journey.
- Sightseeing Tour of the capital, Dushanbe, which includes:
- Antique Museum of Dushanbe, Local Bazar, Cathedral Mosque, Teahouse Navruz Palace, Hissar fortress, Flag Pole Park and Main Square.
- Accommodation: Hotel Taj
Day 7. Dushanbe - Iskandar Kul
- After breakfast, drive to Iskanderkul (240 km, 3-4 h).
- Lake Iskanderkul, according to a legend, was named after Alexander the Great, who was called Iskander in the East. It is said that his way to India ran through this lake.
- Afterward, we visit a nearby waterfall, locally known as the “Niagara” of the region, located close to Iskanderkul.
- On the way back to the base, we stop to see Snake Lake, a small and beautiful lake situated next to Iskanderkul.
- Accommodation: Tour base camp
8.Iskandar Kul - Panjakent
- We begin our journey from the scenic Iskanderkul and drive to Panjakent through beautiful mountain landscapes.
- In Panjakent, we visit the Rudaki Museum, dedicated to the famous poet Rudaki. We then explore the ruins of Ancient Panjakent, a 5th-century Sogdian city, and continue to Sarazm, a 5,500-year-old UNESCO site. We also visit the local bazaar to experience everyday life and traditional products.
- Accommodation: Local Hotel (40 USD no star rating).
Day 9. Panjakent - Nofin (Seven Lakes)
The Seven Beautiful Lakes of the Marguzor Valley form a stunning chain of mountain lakes, each with its own character and elevation. The first lake, Mijgon (“Eyelash”), is multicolored and considered one of the most beautiful in the valley. It is followed by Soya (“Shadow”) and Husher (“Vigilance”), which lies at an altitude of 1,700 meters.
- Next comes Nofin, 3.5 km long and 70 meters deep, followed by Khurdak. The sixth lake, Marguzor, stretches 5 km in length, reaches a depth of 80 meters, and sits at 2,139 meters above sea level. The final and highest lake is Hazorchashma (“Thousand Springs”), located at 2,400 meters above sea level, with a length of 4.5 km and a depth of 85 meters.
- We will drive to the 6th lake Marguzor and treck to the last one which is Hazorchashma.
- Accommodation: Guesthouse Jumaboy (30 USD, no star rating)
Day 10. Nofin - Khujand
- We start our drive towards Khujand city. On the way we will pass through Shahristan pass that stand at the elevation of 3382 m.
- On the way, we visit Istaravshan and explore the 18th-century Hazrat Shoh Mosque, the historic Kok Gumbaz Mosque, and the ancient Mug Fortress.
- In Khujand, we visit the museum, the lively Panjshanbe Bazaar, and the Sheikh Muslihiddin Mosque.
- Accommodatio: Hotel Rumi (70 USD, 3 star)
Day 11. Moving to the Tajik Kyrgyz Border
- After breakfast, we begin our journey toward the Tajik–Kyrgyz border.
- Upon arrival at the border, our wonderful journey comes to an end, and we say our goodbyes.

*This tour involves a lot of walking, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
* This tour is not recommended for those with severe back/knee problems.
* Please let me know in advance if you have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
* The concept of non-vegetarian food is not common in Tajikistan. Please inform me in advance so that I can make the necessary meal arrangements accordingly.
*Please note that for the first half of the tour, 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers will be used from Kyzyl Art to Dushanbe due to the road conditions. For the second half of the tour, as the road conditions are better, Toyota Voxy or Mercedes Sprinter vehicles will be used depending on the number of participants.
