Meeting Point
Edinburgh Departure - Your Selected Location
- Meet your guide at the designated central Edinburgh meeting point and board your comfortable vehicle. After a short introduction, begin your journey north into the heart of Scotland. As you leave the city behind, your guide will provide an overview of the day’s route, the history of the Highlands, and some of the legends that make this region so famous.
Refreshment Stop in Callander
Arrive in the charming town of Callander, often referred to as the gateway to the Highlands. This stop gives guests time to stretch their legs, use the facilities, and purchase tea, coffee, or light snacks. Surrounded by attractive scenery and local character, Callander is the perfect first pause before continuing deeper into the Highland landscape.
Scenic Drive Through Highland Landscapes
Continue the journey through ever-changing scenery of forests, hills, lochs, and open glens. Along the way, your guide will share stories about Scottish clans, local traditions, historic battles, and the cultural importance of the Highlands. This part of the journey is a highlight in itself, offering beautiful views from the comfort of the coach.
Arrival at Glencoe
Stop at Glencoe, one of the most spectacular and atmospheric valleys in Scotland. Famous for its towering mountains, dramatic landscapes, and historic significance, Glencoe is a favorite location for photography and sightseeing. Guests will have time to step out, admire the scenery, and hear about the moving history of the valley and its place in Scottish heritage.
Continue Through Fort William Area
Travel onward through the Highlands, passing through one of Scotland’s best-known mountain regions. From the vehicle, enjoy views of rugged peaks, open countryside, and classic Highland scenery. Your guide may point out notable landmarks and explain how the geography of the region has shaped Highland life over the centuries.
Free Time at Fort Augustus and Loch Ness
Arrive in Fort Augustus, a picturesque village at the southern end of Loch Ness. Here, guests will have free time to enjoy lunch, explore the village, walk beside the loch, and take photos of the surrounding scenery. Depending on local operations and personal preference, there may also be an opportunity to join an optional boat cruise on Loch Ness. This is the main stop of the day and allows time to relax while enjoying one of Scotland’s most famous locations.

Departure from Loch Ness
Rejoin the group and continue the return journey through the Highlands. As the route continues south, enjoy more sweeping views of mountains, valleys, rivers, and forests. This is an ideal time to sit back, relax, and take in the peaceful beauty of rural Scotland.
Scenic Highland Route and Commentary
Travel through some of the most beautiful stretches of the Highland route, with additional commentary from your guide. Learn more about Scottish wildlife, famous Highland legends, and the history of the communities scattered across this striking landscape. The road south offers a different perspective on the scenery seen earlier in the day.
Stop in Pitlochry
Arrive in the lovely Victorian town of Pitlochry, known for its attractive streets, welcoming atmosphere, and beautiful surroundings. Guests will have time for a short break, refreshments, a quick walk, or souvenir shopping. This stop offers a pleasant final pause before the journey back to Edinburgh.
Time at stop: Approximately 30 minutes
Departure from Pitlochry
Begin the final stage of the tour, heading south toward Edinburgh. Relax on board and enjoy the last views of the countryside as your guide brings the day’s journey to a close with final stories and recommendations for the rest of your stay in Scotland.
Return to Edinburgh
Arrive back in central Edinburgh in the evening, bringing your Highland adventure to an end.

Day Trip to St Andrews and Culross from Edinburgh
This day trip takes you from Edinburgh to the gorgeous town of St Andrews, famous the world over for its golf course and university. On the way, we'll also stop for a walk around the village of Culross, notable for featuring in the Outlander television series, but also the prettiest village in Scotland in its own right. Day Trip to Oban, the West Highlands and Glencoe from Edinburgh
This tour is the best scenery you can see in a day trip from Edinburgh. We'll leave the city and drive north west, making a photo stop in the Loch Lomond National Park before continuing on to the romantic ruins of Kilchurn Castle.
