Lerderderg Gorge Southern Circuit (Private Car)

This incredibly scenic hike through the Lerderderg National Park takes you into the heart of the gorge. From the stunning gorge rock walls while getting intimately familiar with Lerderderg's river to the exposed ridgeline scrambles, this hikes truly shows Victoria's wild bush. An 18km adventure through truly beautiful terrain.

Meeting Point
Mitcham Station, Calcutta Street, Mitcham VIC 3132
Mitcham Train Station - Meeting Point
Pickup location for transport to the hike.
Mackenzie's Flat Car Park
The start location for the hike, we start walking up stream of the Lerderderg River
Lerderderg Tunnel Dam
After crossing a few river sections we make our way up the exposed Spur track. A wonderfully rock and steep section before we make to onto a management circuit towards the Lerderderg Tunnel Dam wall.
Blackwood Ranges Track
From Lerderderg Tunnel Dam we cross the river and make our way up another spur track with some absolutely stunning sweeping views of the Lerderderg Ranges. This eventually intersects the Blackwood Ranges Track which is a section of the Great Dividing Trail.
Lerderderg River Base
Walking across an access road on the ridgeline we start making our way down the link track back down a steep decent to the Lerderderg river. There are incredibly beautiful views on this descent.
Mackenzies Flat Car Park
Once we cross the River we starting heading back to Mackenzies Flat Car Park to complete the hike
Mitcham Train Station - Meeting Point
Drop off is back at the meeting point.

Tour Important Information
This is a day hike around the Lerderderg National Park and this is still a very wild bush. We can come in contact with animals and snakes. So it is important to take all necessary precautions and respect the wildlife we may come into contact with.
You will be required to carry your own food, drink and any hiking gear you want to bring. I would recommend comfortable and durable shoes, backpack and water as essentials. It is probably a good idea to bring an electrolyte drink as sweating will deplete your body of minerals. Dress comfortably.
Toilets are only available at Mackenzie's Flat Car Park.
There are obviously certain hazards when hiking which is explained in an indemnity form you will need to understand and sign prior to hiking.
We have two vehicles we use for transport based on number of people. There is a 2023 Suzuki Jimny for 1 - 2 hikers and a 2000 Toyota Landcruiser GXL for 3 - 5 hikers.

“Cathedral Ranges Southern Side”
This tour has exceeded my expectation! I thank the supportive and knowledgeable Phil who led the whole bunch of beginners like our group. This hike was considered to be challenging for some of us, but it was so much fun as we got to explore various landscapes along the trail. We spent our lunch on the top of the range, so rewarding!! Best view to have lunch! What we love about the tour with Phil's guidance is that Phil didn't just bring us there, but he became one of the members in the group and he made us feel that we are capable, and as if he got our back! Truly incredible experience!

Phil was an excellent guide, very helpful and knowledgeable. The cathedral ranges southern circuit was a very scenic and fun hike. The rock climbing and cave sections were very enjoyable and as the route was fairly level, it was not too strenuous apart from some uphill sections.

Rubicon Valley Heritage Aquaduct Trail (Private Car)
Located in the Rubicon Valley this hike is immersed in history from the Hydro-electric power station to the old saw mill and railway line actively used in the early 1900s. This is a beautiful hike through mountain ash forest passing relics and following almost completely along the Rubicon aquaduct and historic railway line. Old and new trestle bridges are scattered throughout this 23km hike.
Cape Woolamai - Scenic Phillip Island Tour (Private Car)
My tour is a day hike around Cape Woolamai's Nature Park. A stunning 10km loop starting on the Cape Woolamai Surf beach where we will pass grand granite rock faces and the beautiful rock formations of 'Pinnacles' lookout. Their are stunning overhead views to large ocean caves below as we make our way up to the Cape Woolamai beacon, the highest point of Cape Woolamai and where you will get a beautiful 360 degree view of the Bass Straight, Phillip Island and the mainland.
