Candy Cane Mountains
Beautiful Colorful Day Trip to red-white striped peaks emerge from the surrounding landscape.
Part of the Greater Caucasus mountains, the Candy Cane Khizi Mountains earned their nickname thanks to their striking resemblance to the Christmas treat.
The color of these rocks is a product of sedimentary rock made up of many thin layers stacked on top of each other.
As the shale comes into contact with water, its iron-rich layers oxidize, transforming into striking shades of red. This natural process has given the Candy Cane Mountains their vivid, ribbon-like patterns.
Hidden within these colorful slopes are countless belemnite fossils, the remains of an extinct order of squid-like creatures from the Cretaceous period. These fossils, often kept as unique souvenirs, tell a story that dates back millions of years.
Pink Lake - Masazir
Second point is a Pink Lake.
From the Candy Cane Mountains, it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the Pink Lake
The Masazir Pink Lake is a hidden gem enchants visitors with its tranquility.
It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the Planet Earth which is known for its stunning pink hue.
There are only eight lakes in a planet, that have the same peculiarity as the Masazir Pink Lake.
Yanardagh Flaming Mountain
Another nearby wonder is Yanardag, or “Burning Mountain,” located in the village of Mammadli on the Absheron Peninsula, around 27 km from Baku.
Yanardag is considered a timeless symbol of Baku, reflected in the city’s emblem of three flames rising above the sea.
The main attraction of Yanardag (“burning mountain”) , is a spectacular hill with a constantly burning line of flames.
Thanks to tectonic and volcanic material below the earth’s surface, the natural gas leaks from the rocks.
The Italian traveler Marco Polo mentioned the flames during his travels to Apsheron Peninsula and its surroundings.
Probably the fire has been burning for over more years at Yanardag.
