I want to show you a delicious food in Sendai.
Sasakamoboko is a steamed fish paste cake in the shape of bamboo leaf. It is made from white fish meat like, tara (cod), hirame (flatfish) and the like. The idea of making fish cake such was brought when fishermen in Sendai bay made a big cach of white fishes long ago. On those days, they had no way of preserving such fresh with using refregerater. So they boiled fresh fish meat, addded salt and molded them into bamboo leaf shafe as a reserved food. Incidentally, "bamboo" is used as a design of family creast of Sendai clan. It is no doubt the fishermen in Sendai borrowed the design of the cake from the family creast of Sendai clan.
