Banteay Srie Temple

In the afternoon, visit Banteay Srei Temple, known as the “Jewel of Khmer Art”, carved from pink sandstone with intricate details.

Meaning of the name: “Banteay Srei” means Citadel of Women or Citadel of Beauty.

Construction: Built in the 10th century, during the reign of King Rajendravarman II and later completed under King Jayavarman V.

Dedication: It is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Material: Constructed largely of pink sandstone, which allows for intricate carvings that remain well-preserved today.
