On the one hand, Tai Koo Li is the most fashionable place in Chengdu, blessed with numerous Western and Chinese brands, enchanting restaurants, luxury stores, and so much more; on the other hand, just by the side of prosperous street stands a peaceful and majestic temple, namely Daci Temple (Temple of Great Mercy), where you can have a glimpse of the Buddhist culture, pray for happiness and wisdom, and feel the peace and tranquility. Today we will head to Jiuzhai Valley. During the long journey, we will go through Dujiangyan and Songpan Ancient City.

In one hour after departure, we will arrive at Dujiangyan, the oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system in the world. The project is scientifically designed to automatically control the water flow of the rivers from the mountains to the plains throughout the year, thus making Chengdu Plain “the Land of Abundance”. While sightseeing, you can know how the huge project is built and how it works.

After five hours, we will reach Songpan Ancient City, an important garrison in the Tang Dynasty, which witnesses the integration of Tibetan and Han and is known for the marriage between Wencheng Princess （a princess in Tang Dynasty） and Songtsen Gampo （a ruler of Tubo Dynasty）. Wandering through the ancient city, you can feel its unique charm with not only the features of Tibetan Culture but the beauty of Hui （an ethnic minority in China）.

About two hours later, we will reach the destination-Jiuzhai Valley.

In this morning, we will drive two and a half hours to Huanglong Valley where there lies one of three most splendid travertine lake terraces in the world.

The reason why it is named Huanglong ( which means yellow dragon in Chinese) valley is that the lake terrace here is like a Yellow dragon with showy scales if you look down from the Snow Treasure Mountain.

Upon arrival, let’s have a wonderful sightseeing of Huanglong. Taking a cable car uphill, you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the beautiful scenery. Upon arriving the mountain top, you can have a view of the Five-Color Ponds composed of 693 ponds of different colors and shapes. Walking downhill, you can immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery of snow mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, lakes, etc.

After that, we will drive six hours back to Chengdu.
